Grassmoor Housing Development Receives Outline Approval

Thursday 12th June 2014

North East Derbyshire District Council has granted outline planning permission for a maximum of 165 dwellings at Windwhistle Farm in Grassmoor.

North East Derbyshire District Council has granted outline planning permission for a maximum of 165 dwellings at Windwhistle Farm in Grassmoor. The 6.75 hectare site is located on open land close to the junction of Birkin Lane and North Wingfield Road, between the existing housing and the Five Pits Trail.

As part of the development, the developer, Akroyd and Abbott Homes, have agreed to pay a commuted sum of over £574k to help fund a public open space, primary education places, public art, links to the adjoining trail network and affordable housing in the Grassmoor area.

The indicative layout shows one vehicular access serving the site off Birkin Lane. However, the developer must now submit more detailed plans to the Council for approval which will need to show the type of units to be built and how they will be designed sympathetically to fit in with the surrounding area.
