Police Appeal After Children's Play Area Damaged In Mastin Moor

Monday 15th October 2012

Vandals have caused £600 worth of damage to a children's play area in Mastin Moor.

Vandals have caused £600 worth of damage to a children's play area in Mastin Moor.

Three park benches have been ripped up, causing damage to the block paved floor beneath, and playground equipment has been damaged by fire (above).

The playground, at Lansbury Avenue, was attacked some time between 9.30pm and 11pm on Saturday, October 6th.

The park is overlooked by neighbouring homes and police hope that local residents may have information which could help them find the vandals.

PCSO Sue Cooke
(above) of the Staveley Safer Neighbourhood Policing Team: "The park is a real focal point for the community in Mastin Moor, and it is both disappointing and sad to see the damage that has been caused, especially in the children's play area.

"We are currently targeting the area as a priority, and stepping up patrols to deter this unacceptable behaviour and to reassure local residents. I would urge anyone who may have seen anything suspicious in the area to contact us."

Anyone with information should call Staveley Safer Neighbourhood Policing Team on 101 or Crimestoppers anonymously on 0800 555 111.
