Talented young dancers in Derby and Derbyshire are being urged to come forward for a chance to perform in a professional venue in front of hundreds of people.

The national U.Dance programme, led by Youth Dance England, starts in Derbyshire soon with the Interface 13 event presented by international dance organisations, Dance4 and Dada.

All youth dance groups are invited to apply and be part of the spectacular showcase of dance performances.

The programme gives young people a chance to perform in a professional environment and boost their careers as dancers. Deadline for applications is Tuesday 4th December.

Vanessa McGuire, Dance Development Manager at Dance4, said: "This is a fantastic opportunity for young performers to take centre stage and perform alongside other talented dancers. It's a perfect platform for emerging dance groups to progress their careers and possibly go on to perform on a national stage.

"There is a wealth of talent amongst young people in Derby and Derbyshire. This programme is a brilliant showcase for tomorrow's professional dance artists and a perfect opportunity for young dancers to show what they can do."

Following the deadline for applications, groups will be selected to perform at Interface 13 at Derby Theatre on 11th March.

With a live selection at Interface 13 and each of the county platforms, five selected dance groups from across the region will go on to perform at the My (Midlands Youth) Dance Festival and Fringe on 20th April where the very best young dancers from across the midlands will perform at Nottingham Playhouse.

The cream of the Midlands performers will then be selected to perform at the exciting, national U.Dance finals held in Leeds from 18-21 July.

The deadline for receiving applications from dance acts is Tuesday 4th December and the groups selected with be announced on 17th December. More details can be found at: www.dance4.co.uk or www.u.dance.org/main.cfm
