Birmingham University
graduate Daisy-Lee Overton, (above), has lived in Derbyshire all her life and is proud to be able to share the beauty of the countryside with others through her collection of rings, as she explains, "I've been at Birmingham School of Jewellery for the past 3 years and, encouraged to complete my graduate collection, I started looking back at where I came from and the foliage that surrounds my home.

"It's a beautiful part of the world The Peak District - and it was that that inspired my work for this collection. I drew inspiration from the natural foliage and the details and the textures and looked at the curves, making really sculptural pieces that sit on the hand. I like to use my hand as my landscape for my pieces."

The pieces are made from, Copper, silver plated and some are oxidized

The pieces are made from, "Copper, silver plated and some are oxidized - you have varying grades, It starts with a sheet of copper, and having figured out how I want to texture it for each piece, there's a lot of etching in this process involving acid. I put on a resist and then it gets folded and I then use a lot of metal working techniques to develop them.

"Meeting Helen Dimmick, the MD of Green + Benz, has provided a valuable opportunity", she adds, "She came to see our graduate show and she saw my work and she said it had caught her eye, It was about the Derbyshire landscape which was perfect with them being based in Chesterfield so she put on this show for me, it is here for a couple of weeks."

Although the collection is currently rings, Daisy-Lee is now keen to expand and has plenty of ideas

Although the collection is currently rings (above), Daisy-Lee is now keen to expand and has plenty of ideas, "I want to develop my collection so I want to explore other parts of the body, maybe do some ear pieces and get myself set up as at the moment I'm just working in my bedroom!"
