Injury Blow For The Reds

Anthony HowellALFRETON Town have suffered an injury blow ahead of their start of season.

Midfielder Anthony Howell has undergone a scan on a knee injury picked up during the last pre season friendly against the Stags.

The 24-year-old former Mansfield Town player is in need of an operation on a damaged cartilage and he is likely to be out of action for up to six weeks.

His absence is a huge blow to the club, after such a successful 2009/10 season in which his powerful displays and 14 goals played such a key part in the team's run to the play off final.

Manager Law is now in the process of trying to bring in an additional player to cover for the loss of Howell over the next few weeks.
