BELPER 1st XV 30 - 20 PANTHERS 1st XV
Panthers lost to Belper in this away league game with the players and spectators wondering how?
In front at the interval by 20 points to 17, Panthers looked reasonably comfortable. The second half saw some harsh penalties and Belper capitalised to run out winners.
Panthers tries came from Richard Cooke and David Simms with Antony Barnett converting both and also kicking two penalties.
Man of the match was Rob Collins.
PANTHERS (U14s) 58 - 7 SLEAFORD (U14s)
In almost constant torrential rain, a very strong and steadily improving Chesterfield squad beat an injury depleted Sleaford side who, to their great credit, kept battling on despite having little of the ball from the set pieces or the breakdowns.
It was a day when everything seemed to go right for the home side, few balls were dropped and most passes went to hand and with 90% of the possession they were bound to cut loose and score a lot of tries.
Leading convincingly at half time Panthers rang the changes and gave everyone in the squad a chance to show what they can do including several players who had not played a game for the club before.
Panthers tries came from Dan Burrows, Joe Early, Nick Foan, Matt Ford, Matt Gude, Matt Keeley, Matt Lamin, James Marshall, Aiden Swift, Alistair Taylor and Alex Winnard. Taylor also kicked seven conversions.
Joint men of the match were Matt Keeley and Dan Burrows
