Mr Mark Macartney (left) has been elected as the Chesterfield and District Caledonian Association’s President for the forthcoming 2 years at their AGM on Tuesday 24th May.

For the past two years Mark served as Senior Vice President and is also the Association's Webmaster and Publicity Officer.

Mark was born in Dumfries in 1948 and was educated at Lockerbie Academy.

He joined the Ministry of Defence in 1964 at Longtown Cumbria, working there for 22 years at Longtown.

In 1986 he moved to Kineton in Warwickshire when, on promotion, he became the Ammunition Storage Officer. Mark then moved on to MoD at Weeton in Lancashire, and his final posting before taking early retirement in 2003 was as the "Commander" of the MoD Distribution Depot at Chilwell near Nottingham.

In 2005 Mark took up a part time position with Chesterfield Borough Council as a CCTV Operator, he resigned from this position in 2010 enabling him to spend more time on his Caledonian duties.

Over the years, Mark's voluntary work has included Boy Scout Leader and as a Guide at Hardwick Hall.

Mark is married and lives with his wife Jen at Glapwell, Jen is his Consort and also Senior Vice President and Treasurer of the Association.
