Let It Bean!

Thursday 13th September 2012

The Highwayman Beefeater Grill In Chesterfield has recreated the iconic image of The Beatles crossing Abbey Road - using items from the great British breakfast!

It is one of the most recognised album covers in history and now local visitors to the Highwayman in Chesterfield have chosen the iconic shot of The Beatles crossing Abbey Road as their favourite British image of all time.

Let it Bean! The Highwayman Beefeater Grill In Chesterfield has recreated the iconic image of The Beatles crossing Abbey Road - using items from the great British breakfast!

To celebrate their breakfast menu, food sculptor Paul Baker was commissioned to design and create a mosaic of the famous Beatles album cover 'Abbey Road', made entirely from classic ingredients found in a full English breakfast (above).

During a great year for Great Britain, a poll of customers and staff at the Highwayman revealed that the legendary shot of Paul, John, Ringo and George crossing the famous North London road is regarded as their favourite.

Others amongst the top five included Bobby Moore celebrating England's historic World Cup win in 1966, Wills and Kate kissing on the Buckingham Palace balcony, Winston Churchill holding up the peace sign and the Queen's Coronation in 1953.

2012 also marks 50 years since Britain's most famous pop band first recorded at Abbey Radio studios, and to many they are still considered to be the best band of all time, with record-breaking sales of over one billion albums and 17 number ones in the UK, The Beatles are still as popular today as they ever were.

Paul Baker created the striking artwork using an array of items from the Beefeater Grill's breakfast menu including sausages, bacon, scrambled egg, tomatoes, croissants, crumpets, hash browns and toast.

In keeping with his preference for vegetarian food, Paul McCartney was re-created entirely of mushrooms!

Sam Vaughan, a spokesperson from Beefeater Grill said; "To celebrate our breakfast menu, we wanted to do something to mark an amazing year for Great Britain - and what is more British than The Beatles crossing Abbey Road?

"After a 'Hard Day's Night', a hearty breakfast is the best way to start the day and we hope that the variety we offer at Beefeater Grill will keep our customers coming back for more!"
