Inspector Glenn Hoggardis taking the lead on policing in Clay Cross and North East Derbyshire.Inspector Glenn Hoggard (left) has taken over from Michelle Shooter, who has been promoted to Chief Inspector, and is now working in the Derby area.

Having been a police officer for more than 17 years, Insp. Hoggard will be overseeing policing in Clay Cross, Dronfield, Eckington, Killamarsh and other communities in the North East Derbyshire district.

Originally from North Wingfield, Insp. Hoggard began his career in Glossop but he has worked from Dronfield, Killamarsh and Bolsover. He became a Sergeant in 2002 and was promoted to an Inspector in 2006.

Insp. Hoggard moved to the new role in October, having worked as response Inspector in Chesterfield for the last two and a half years.

During his career, Insp Hoggard has also worked as a firearms officer and in the roads policing unit, where he helped set up a proactive unit to target criminality on the roads.

Outside of work, Insp. Hoggard is kept busy with two young daughters aged six and two, but he likes to stay active and enjoys keeping fit.

Insp. Hoggard said: "I am really pleased to be taking over the position. Overall crime in the area has been reducing year on year and my aim is to continue this good work and keep our area a safe place to live.

"I see the assistance of the community as vital in this work and so my focus will be to continue to build public confidence in local policing, find out the concerns of local residents and keep people informed of what we are doing to address those issues."
