Reds Have "Nothing To Fear" Says Alfreton Boss Nicky Law

Wednesday 31st October 2012

Reds Have 'Nothing To Fear' Says Alfreton Boss Nicky LawAlfreton Town manager Nicky Law (left) says his side have nothing to fear when they go to Wrexham to contest a tough FA Cup with Budweiser first round proper tie this Saturday.

The Reds will be trying to reach the second round proper for only the second time in their history and they will have to do it the hard way, for this is the first time in six first round appearance down the years that they have been drawn away.

Wrexham's home form is impressive with six wins and two draws from nine games in all competitions, the only defeat coming recently when Lincoln City surprised them 4-2 in the league.

However, Law says his side will not be going to shut up shop, particularly as the Dragons' Racecourse Ground is a venue Alfreton won at in the league last season, securing a famous 1-0 success on Good Friday in front of 4,673.

"When the draw was made, like the Gateshead game in the previous round, it was probably not the best draw either team could have got, especially away" commented Law. "We are going to a side in good form and I am sure they will be confident they can progress. They are up there in the league, but, our away form has been good and we will just go there and give it a go.

"We will no doubt be the underdogs, but we have just got to go there and do the best we can.

"We have only lost one game in ten ourselves which is a decent run. We will certainly not go there and shut up shop, we will go and try to win the game.

"We have already proved on our day we can be as good as anybody, and there are a lot of finances involved we could certainly do with."

Law gave several of his squad players a run out in a behind-closed doors game against Ilkeston FC Academy on Tuesday night with Anton Brown getting more important match minutes under his belt before this Saturday's big FA Cup tie, as did Adam Quinn, Leigh Franks, Ashley Worsfold and Simon Russell.

And if Anthony Wilson can shake off a minor knee problem in time, Law will have the luxury of a full-strength squad to choose from.

Should a replay be required, this will be staged at the Impact Arena on Tuesday, November 13th with a 7.45pm kick-off.

Transport

ATFC Supporters' Association have confirmed that they will be running a second coach to Wrexham and prices per seat are £14 for ATFCSA members, £15 for non members, £7 for accompanied children.

Places are on a first come, first served basis and seats can be booked by contacting Mark Thorpe on 07857 558401.
