The signing of Tom Anderson on loan from Burnley completed a trio of transfer deadline day deals for the Spireites.

The signing of Tom Anderson on loan from Burnley completed a trio of transfer deadline day deals for the Spireites.

Anderson
, 22, (above), will spend the rest of the season with Chesterfield. The 6'4" central defender is yet to make his debut for Burnley, but he has had several spells out on loan and made eight appearances for Carlisle United last season.

Joining Anderson at Chesterfield are midfield pair Connor Dimaio and Gary Liddle, signed earlier in the day.

Liddle joins the Spireites from Bradford City for an undisclosed fee, signing a long-term contract.

The 29-year-midfielder, who can also play in central defence, played under Spireites boss Danny Wilson at Hartlepool United.

Gary Liddle joins the Spireites from Bradford City for an undisclosed fee, signing a long-term contract.

Liddle (above), was part of Middlesbrough's FA Youth Cup-winning side in 2004 and also played for Notts County before joining Bradford in the summer of 2014.

Commenting on the move, Liddle said: "I'm delighted to get it all sorted. The chance to work with the manager again really appealed to me and that was a major factor in my decision to sign because Danny is one of the best managers I've worked for.

"I know Ritchie Humphreys as well and he's told me about the club. I'm predominantly a midfielder but I can play at centre-back as well."

Spireites boss Danny Wilson said: "I've known Gary for the best part of ten years. I took him from Middlesbrough to Hartlepool and he did well for us.

"He's a versatile, no-nonsense player who is a 'seven out of ten' every week and I'm sure the fans will take to him."

Young Chesterfield-born midfielder Connor Dimaio was the Spireites' first signing today following a short spell on trial.Young Chesterfield-born midfielder Connor Dimaio was the Spireites' first signing today following a short spell on trial. A free agent after being released by Sheffield United, Dimaio has agreed a deal until the end of the season.

The 20-year-old made four appearances for the Blades and is well known to Chesterfield's first-team coach, Chris Morgan, who worked with him at Bramall Lane.

Wilson believes Dimaio (left), has a bright future. He said: "Connor has fitted in well with us in training and we feel he's got a lot of potential."

Commenting on the transfer activity, Spireites chief executive Chris Turner said: "I am very pleased with the business we have done before the transfer deadline. We have brought in three players who will strengthen the defensive and midfield areas of the squad."
