A rare Saturday off ahead for the Spireites as they take on top of the league Burton Albion on Friday evening on police advice.
Ahead of the game, Chesterfield manager Danny Wilson (above), told The Chesterfield Post that playing the most in-form team in the division doesn't faze him - and won't faze the players, "The position in the league doesn't affect us at the moment, it's what we can do at the minute to beat them."
After a home defeat to Graham Westley's Peterborough last weekend, which made it three defeats on the bounce for Chesterfield, Wilson said that he had seen some positives in the game, though he was also emphatic about what needs to change, "They'll get the credit for coming away with three points with nine men on the pitch, but there was lots of endeavour from us and lots of opportunities - but on the other side, we didn't make the most of them and that's something that we have to address."
Injury-wise, the news for the Spireites isn't great with two strikers now on the treatment table, "We have one or two doubts for the weekend, on top of what we already have. Lee Novak has a problem with his toe, we thought it was broken but it's not - and now the sickness bug has hit him!
"With Sylvan (Ebanks-Blake), we're looking at a hamstring strain which he picked up at the weekend, so he's 50/50 for Burton."
With a growing injury list and the emergency window open, Wilson admits movement in is unlikely but he remains pragmatic, "I've plenty of thoughts of bringing someone in but the reality is it's unlikely we will if the prices are what we can't afford! Sometimes you can turn that in your favour - you can make sure it galvanizes the squad, it's about us, there's no-one coming in to help you and that's what you have to try and achieve.
"We have a squad here that's performing fairly well, the results in the two of the last three games have been disappointing because we felt we should have got something from the game, so that gives you the confidence."
With no incomings expected there has been movement out - with news breaking on Thursday morning that Byron Harrison had gone to Stevenage on a one-month loan. Wilson explained his reasoning saying, "He's not done enough to play in our first team and he needs to get some games under his belt. He has to come to a certain standard and level, which will consistently put him in the pecking order. Games in the second division, albeit, will hopefully sharpen him up and hopefully give him some desire and ambition to perform here, or wherever he's playing."
And so the focus moves to Burton, now under the tutelage of Nigel Clough after Jimmy Floyd Hasselbainks' departure to QPR. Wilson admits that, though it will a 'stern' test, "There's nothing to suggest we can't get a win from Burton - we will cause teams problems, we've always had opportunities in games where we could score. It doesn't bother me that they're top of the league, it's about our performance - but what I will be looking for is a better end product than we had on Saturday.
"The results they've had show they are difficult to break down, they defend very well as a unit, so that suggests you have to be patient. We do know that if we can get that first goal, then their game plan becomes different and when they become an open team, they become a vulnerable team - and we have to hope we can do that to them."
