Division One Last seasons champions Millhouses / Works got back to winning ways at Sheffield Centralians. They dismissed the home side for 159 (J.Sen 53, Schofield 41, Sampson 5-57) and recorded a seven wicket victory mainly thanks to Everett who hit the highest score of the day an unbeaten 92. Holmesfield continued their successful start to the season defeating the previously unbeaten Hollinsend Meths. Holmesfield batting first made a useful 190-9 and then bowled out the home side for 120 (D.Rosling 4-20). Hundall are finding life difficult on their return to the top division. They could only manage 68 all out at the Parkhead ground, with C.Turner returning figures of 6-24. Parkhead then posted 71-3 to register a seven wicket win. There was a close encounter at Hathersage where the visitors Apperknowle were restricted to 139-9 from their 46 overs. The home side falling 14 runs short at 125 all out (K.Henderson 6-32). This was Apperknowle's first win of the season. Sheffield University Staff had a comfortable home victory over De La Salle at Warminster Road. Batting first the home side registered a creditable 195-6 (M.Sharma 42). De La Salle were left still looking for their first victory having been bowled out for 126 (D.Willey 43no)
Division Two There were some excellent bowling performances in the second tier. Veteran John Bridgett rolling back the years by taking 6-26 for unbeaten Dronfield Woodhouse as they bowled out visitors Ashford for 124. The home side had earlier totalled 179-8 (C.Sanders 47, P.Marsden 4-69). Opening bowler Harris had the remarkable figures of 6-2 for Stocksbridge as home side Grindleford could only muster 56 all out. The visitors recording a seven wicket win. Ridgeway posted a home win over Parkhead Seconds. Ridgeway 192 all out (Harry Cartwright 64, Woodhead 45). For the visitors, Keywood had the excellent return of 6-6. Parkhead were then restricted to 159-8. Calver recorded an emphatic ten wicket first victory of the season shooting out Weston Park for 88 (M.Cork 4-16). Bennett hit an unbeaten 49 in their reply of 92-0. Civil Service batting first at home to Hallam thirds were all out for 181. Frier again amongst the runs hitting 43. The visitors could only muster 81 in reply (J. Clarke 4-28). This maintained the home sides excellent start to the season. Millhouses / Works seconds had a two wicket win at Sheffield Transport. The home sede were all out for 153 ( I.Owens 63). The visitors reaching their target with two wickets to spare. For Transport, Holmes took 6-46.
Division Three Totley Sports had an excellent home win over Shardlows. After bowling out the visitors for 137, Birks made a fine unbeaten 77 in their nine wicket victory. Bakewell 165 (P.Fern 83, D.Turner 5-51, R.Reed 4-68) had a good home win over Whittington Wanderers 126-6 Millhouses / Works 3rd 110 (A.Hone 5-31) were beaten at home by an in form Baslow who posted an excellent 238-5 with Chris Cowley hitting 90 and T.Elleker 66. TRS are still looking for their first win being rushed out for 50 (H.Liver 5-7) by Sheffield Collegiate 4ths who replied with 53-2.
Division Four Top scorers in this division were Centralians seconds who made an impressive 249-7 (Stow 81, Sutton 42 and Murphy 40). Apperknowle seconds were then sent back for 85 (M.Chedgey 46) Chesterfield Barbarians 2nd batting first made a useful 211 (C.Bradley 60, A.Horton 6-71). In reply Hathersage 2nd closed their innings at 129-9 (G.Bramwell 5-61) Coal Aston 3rd 170-9 lost their unbeaten record to Youlgreave Lodge who posted a useful 218-5 (C.Buckle 73, R.Podmore 45, A. Tye 4-37) De La Salle 2nd 139-2 (O'Sullivan 77 no) had an eight wicket win at home to Hollinsend Meths 2nd 138-9 (Hill 58, Lally 4-59). Hundall 2nd 155-6 were beaten by Totley Sports 2nd 159-5 Walkley 134 (G.Taylor 5-40) recorded their first victory at home to Sheffield Zingari 104 (D.Hudson 4-12)
Division Five Sheffield Collegiate 5ths 105 -6, continued their hundred per cent record with victory over Chesterfield Barbarians Seconds who were bowled out for 101 (Langdale 4-21). Ashford 2nd 154-6 (S.Davies 77 no) were beaten at home by Sheffield Medics 155-2 (J.Gupta 65 no) Baslow 2nd 167-6 (T.Sadler 70) lost to Stocksbridge 3rd 168-5 A close low scoring game at Whittington Wanderers saw the home side dismissed for 64, with the visitors Ridgeway 2nd having to fight hard for a three wicket victory. Woodhouse 82-5 enjoyed a five wicket victory over Civil Service 2nd 81.
