Chesterfield is set to be given a significant investment boost with the bold transformation of the McDonald's restaurant, creating up to 10 new jobs.
The restaurant, (above), which is situated on Low Pavement has now officially opened after it's extensive refit and redecoration work was completed.
The restaurant, which first opened in July 1984, has been given a high-tech makeover to feature new self-service kiosks, digital menu boards and tablet computers.
The redesign also includes McDonald's signature style with a bright, modern interior and exterior design, comfortable seating and free Wi-Fi.
The investment demonstrates McDonald's ongoing commitment to invest in high streets across the UK and is part of an extensive ongoing refurbishment programme. Many of the new features from the restaurant will appear in other McDonald's restaurants across the UK in coming months.
Local franchisee Walter Wright, who owns and operates seven restaurants across Chesterfield, Newark, Retford and Sheffield said: "As a local businessman who has had a restaurant in the area for over 15 years, I understand the importance of investing in the community and local high streets, so it's great to be able to play a part in the re-generation of the area and bring an extra much needed boost to the economy here in Chesterfield.
"It's not just about providing a fresh, new environment though; I also believe in investing in my people and am delighted to be able to create up-to ten new jobs as a result of the re-design. With excellent training programmes and career opportunities, including the Apprenticeship scheme, on offer to all of McDonald's employees, I hope the roles will appeal to a broad spectrum of people across Chesterfield."
Employees at the restaurant will also benefit from improved kitchen facilities and a new 'crew room' with comfortable seating, a television and a computer.
Walter spoke with The Chesterfield Post having shown us the new facilities, including the new recycling initiative, and the former dairy farmer explained just why Chesterfield is so important to him as a town.
