Derby Mountain Rescue Team located a missing 73 year old woman on Sunday (10th February) after a search in the North Wingfield area.
The woman, a resident of North Wingfield, was believed to have left her house at 6:00am on Sunday and police had become concerned for her safety, especially with the very wet and cold conditions that day.
After an initial police search, including the use of the police helicopter overhead, mountain rescue were called in to expand the search.
Thirty one rescue team volunteers and five mountain rescue search dogs joined in the operation, which involved searching fields, woodland and areas of waste ground on the outskirts of the town.
The woman was eventually located by a search dog handler in a remote bit of woodland, alive but extremely cold.
The woman was given additional clothing by her finders whilst more rescuers and equipment were brought to the site. She was then treated on scene by team medics, before being evacuated by stretcher across fields to a waiting team Land Rover, (pictured above) where she was then driven to a road ambulance to be taken to hospital for further treatment.
A team spokesman said: "It was a very good find. Weather conditions were deteriorating and with each passing hour, her condition would have become more serious, so we're really pleased to have recovered her before the situation become much more critical. We wish her a speedy recovery."
At this stage, it is not known how she came to be at the location where she was found.
