Braehead Clan 2 - 4 Sheffield Steelers
Saturday's Match report

Tuesday 22nd November 2011

A second period burst from the Steelers that saw them score three within the first seven minutes cemented this win for the Yorkshire team.

There was nothing to separate the teams after twenty minutes as the period ended goalless. The home side had 3 powerplay opportunities but failed to make any of them count. The visitors got their first powerplay with a minute to go and 40 seconds later it was a 5 on 3.

Into the second period and with Steelers having the two-man advantage for almost a minute they made it count 33 seconds into the period as Ryan Finnerty netted. The visitors doubled their lead with a strike from Jeff Legue at 24:26. The same player added a third at 26:51.

A second 5 on 3 for the visitors saw them go 4 nil up as Legue completed a straight hat trick with a goal at 35:47. That was how the second period ended.

The Steelers were not much of a threat in the third period as Suomalainen only faced five shots. Kyle Bruce was ejected at 50:01 on a match with a check to the head.

With the Clan under penalty, they gave the home fans something to cheer about as Mick Bayrack scored a shorthanded goal at 53:13 to deny DeCaro any chance he had of a shutout.

Then in the final minute as they enjoyed their own 5 on 3 Bayrack got his second of the game. However, it was a case of too little too late and Sheffield went home with the points.
