Mike Ramsay (below) scored the overtime winner 24 seconds into the extra period for the Steelers in Hull on Sunday to complete a 4 point weekend for Ryan Finnerty's men.
Hull took the lead inside 20 seconds when Jeremy Tendler fired past John DeCrao in the Steelers' net.
Steelers hit back with two goals in 10 minutes. New signing Luke Fulghum scored his first goal for his new team and then Player Coach Ryan Finnerty finished off a nice move started by his Assistant Ashley Tait to give the Steelers the lead.
The Steelers held that lead until the 56th minute when Jason Silverthorne equalised to send the game into overtime.
Just 24 seconds in and Matt Stephenson's pass found Ramsay who beat the outstanding Boucher to secure the Steelers the all important 2nd point.
Head coach Ryan Finnerty said "That was a close one! You have to credit Hull, they played a tough game and just wouldn't let it go.
"I felt we played very well and perhaps created enough chances to have won the game earlier. To be honest our 4 man D is fatigued right now, they played 3 hard games in 3 nights last week in Europe and then 2 in 2 nights again this weekend. We are lucky to be bringing in another D man on Tuesday and having 5 at the back will help us with the tough schedule coming up.
"I think new signing Luke Fulghum has settled in very well. I was pleased he scored tonight and got the monkey off his back. He can now play without pressure, he will be a huge asset for us, we were lucky to get him and will take full advantage of that luck.
"We now have 3 games in 3 nights coming up. We won't moan about that, we will embrace it and tackle it full on. All these games coming up are big games and as players you want to play. We will rest and repair but we will be ready come Friday and the visit of the Belfast Giants to Sheffield".
