Dundee Stars 3 - 4 Sheffield Steelers.

Steelers make it 10 OT wins this season with player coach Ryan Finnerty leading the way with 2 goals.

Stars took title favourites Steelers all the way before losing out in a shootout, with Steelers once again finding that way to win with both Steve Birnstill and Jeff Legue scoring in the shootout with no Stars reply.

However it ended up a three-point weekend for Stars with a couple of solid displays, while Steelers march on, winning their seventh straight game.

Both sides were on the mark early in the opening period with Jeff Hutchins firing Stars ahead at 5.29 on a 5 on 3 powerplay, only for Jonathan Phillips to level for Steelers at 7.22.

Steelers then took the opening period honours when player/coach Ryan Finnerty scored at 13.13 on the powerplay.

A big Stars comeback in the second session saw them take the lead. A J Maclean levelled at 25.03 and then on the powerplay at 35.41 it was Lee Mitchell who edged his side ahead.

Steelers, as expected, took the play to Stars in the final period and tied it up at 3-3 with Finnerty's second goal timed at 47.05.

It was end to end after that, with both teams having chances to win it in both regulation and indeed overtime but, it went to the shootout where it finally ended with Stars unable to beat Steelers backup goaltender Geoff Woolhouse, as he backstopped his side to yet another two points.

Head Coach Ryan Finnerty was full of praise for goalie Geoff Woolhouse following the Steelers victory against Dundee, "House played a great game, or should I say, another great game. Every time we call on him he delivers.

"We take every game seriously and it was with no disrespect to Dundee that we played House," confirmed 'Finner'. "Geoff is the first at training and the last away, we have to find games to get him in the line up. He deserves that at the very least for all his efforts.

"Every player here has great confidence in him and that's why I had no hesitation giving him the start.

"He made some big stops at important times and then come the shoot out - he stood tall and stopped both of Dundee's penalty shots to win us the game."
