Steelers ended their Continental Cup experience with a 6-3 defeat at the hands of Hungarian champions Dunaujveros Bull's.


Penalties against the Steelers tired squad proved too much to come back from

It was a similar story for Ryan Finnerty's side - penalties against for their physical stye of play and tired bodies through playing with a depleted squad.

Steelers ran into early penalty trouble and conceded two first period power play goals through Balazs Somogyl and Atilia Pavuk.

Matt Stephenson soon had the Steelers on the board in the middle period and 5 on 5, Finnerty's side were in control.

Penalties then took over once again and with it any hope of a Steelers come back.

In a 15 minute spell the Steelers were hit with 4 Hungarian goals, two on the power play.


After 8 periods of hockey in 48 hours, John DeCaro, seen in the thick of the action above, was withdrawn for Geoff Woolhouse for the final period

After facing eight periods of hockey in just over 48 hours, John DeCaro was withdrawn for the final period and Geoff Woolhouse installed between the pipes.

Jeff Legue broke away 9 minutes into the final period to slot home nicely (6-2) and them Mike Ramsay gave the scoreline more dignity firing home with 7 minutes remaining (6-3).

Overall it is a Continental Cup that will give both Finnerty and his side much valued experience but he and his team will be in a hurry to get home and back to domestic business.
