Chesterfield Market Hosts Young Enterprise Trade Fair

Wednesday 2nd March 2011

Students from local schools are preparing to take part in the North Derbyshire Young Enterprise Trade Fair on Thursday 3rd March. The Fair, hosted by Chesterfield Market, takes place in New Square between 10am and 4pm.

Young Enterprise Trade Fair at Chesterfield Market

The students, aged 15-17, represent eleven Young Enterprise groups taking part in the Company Programme, which gives students an opportunity to gain practical experience of business and enterprise through setting up and running their own real company.

Students will be loaned pop up market stalls from Chesterfield Market which giving companies the opportunity to experience trading on the market and hopefully pick up some tips from established market traders.

During the morning the companies will be interviewed by a panel of judges including the Mayor, Councillor Keith Morgan, Chris Sellars from Banner Jones Solicitors and Kevin Walker from Bitz 'n' PC'z Ltd. Awards will be decided on the day including Best Trade Stand and Most Innovative Company.

Debbie Bestwick, Corporate Relations Manager for Young Enterprise said: "We are delighted that so many companies from local schools are able to attend this year's Trade Fair; the event allows our young entrepreneurs to promote and sell the products and services that they have been developing over the past six months.

"This will be an invaluable experience for them, developing their skills in communication, sales and marketing as they welcome new customers to their stands."

The Young Enterprise companies appearing at the Trade Fair are:-

'TITAN' from Brookfield Community School
'YooMoo' from Chesterfield College
