Van Dyk Wildes Hotel In Chesterfield
Image: Pixabay If you are still seeking a unique and special Christmas present for a friend or family member, a gift experience might be the ideal solution. But not just any gift experience! This is a gift experience that requires astute observations and an inquisitive nature. Invite your loved one to a night of Murder Mystery solving at the Van Dyk Wildes Hotel in Clowne. Derbyshire's original AA 4-star hotel with a Rosette Food Award has arranged a post-Christmas Murder Mystery Evening on Friday 27th December. Hosted in the hotel's Garden Room, the event includes a plush three-course meal in between the inquisition. The plots are entirely fictitious, but guests (or characters) are required to put their game face on to quiz the other characters to try and pinpoint the murderer. Murder mystery events are popular nationwide among those who are fascinated by crime and ‘whodunnit’ stories. Crime series and documentaries remain some of the most talked-about television show genres in popular culture, thanks to franchises such as Line of Duty and CSI capturing the imagination of would-be investigators in households up and down the country. The CSI franchise has proven particularly popular in terms of spin-offs, with official board games, video games and slot machines inspired by the authentic storylines and characters. The CSI slot can even be played for free on a site which gives you a chance to play the role of investigator at the Las Vegas Crime Lab. It’s the ability to put yourself in the shoes of a professional crime investigator that makes shows such as CSI and Line of Duty so engaging. Murder mystery events give guests a similar thrill, with the chance to use their brains to solve dramatic crime mysteries. It’s not the first time that a Murder Mystery Evening has been hosted at the Van Dyk Wildes Hotel. The hotel completed an extension back in November 2018, giving the property increased space to stage murder mystery events with greater regularity. Being located in a somewhat quaint and quiet countryside location between Chesterfield and Worksop also adds to the drama and intensity of these evenings and they are well supported by locals as well as crime fanatics from further afield. There are heaps of history behind the Van Dyk Wildes Hotel too. Built in the early 19th century by Henry Bowden, the complex was originally named Southgate House. It was utilised as a home for Victorian gentry, a place for the elite to enjoy the rolling hills of the Derbyshire countryside. Since 2009, the complex was restored and launched as the Van Dyk Wildes Hotel, maintaining the building’s charming period features and providing the ideal staycation location for residents in the Chesterfield area. With 15 individually themed bedrooms on-site, you could even treat your loved one to a luxurious overnight stay after their Murder Mystery experience, followed by a delicious breakfast filled with scrumptious, locally sourced ingredients. At a cost of just £32 per person, the Murder Mystery Evening at Van Dyk Wildes Hotel is competitively priced and the ideal Christmas treat for those looking to think outside of the box for their festive fun.
