Flu Advice

Tuesday 4th January 2011

Flu AdviceAs swine flu cases once again begin to rise, Chesterfield Royal hospital is advising people who think they, or someone they know may have the illness to visit their website in the first instance for further advice.

However, keeping that in mind, they also have released this general information of some key points to remember and help for anyone who may be worried with regard to Swine Flu and it's symptoms:

1. Symptoms include fever or high temperature, tiredness, headache, runny nose, sore throat, cough/shortness of breath, aches, diarrhoea or vomiting.

2. If you think you have swine or seasonal flu then DO NOT visit your GP or hospital as you risk spreading it to the wider community, instead phone your GP or ring NHS Direct on 0845 46 47 for advice - this also applies if you think a relative or friend has it.

3. For most people swine flu is a relatively mild illness and you will make a full recovery by getting plenty of rest, using over the counter flu remedies and ensuring you drink plenty of fluids.

4. Some people may be more at risk and you can find out if you are in an 'at risk' group by logging on to www.nhs.uk where you will also find more details of the symptoms and treatments.

5. There is also a swine flu information sheet on the hospital website if the link below is followed...
