New Community Police Base For Hasland Opened By Borough Council

Tuesday 8th April 2014

A new community police base has been opened in Hasland for the local Safer Neighbourhood policing team.

The new Police office, which is at Hasland Village Hall in Eastwood Park, has been provided by Chesterfield Borough Council.

The office, which is at Hasland Village Hall in Eastwood Park, has been provided by Chesterfield Borough Council.

It will provide the team with a stop while they are out on patrol in the area, and also a place where they can hold small meetings with local residents.

Safer Neighbourhood Team Sergeant Mark Church said: "We're very grateful to Chesterfield Borough Council and the support of Councillor Serjeant in setting up this space for us to use.

Councillor Amanda Serjeant, Chesterfield Borough Council's Executive Member for Leisure, Culture and Tourism said: This is a great example of partnership working - the council owns the building, which is in a prominent place in Hasland and easy for residents to reach."The team will continue to start and finish their duty at the police office on Birchwood Crescent, but the community base will give officers a chance to drop in while they are on patrol around the village, and will allow them to catch up on a few things and also offer a meeting point for local residents."

Councillor Amanda Serjeant, Chesterfield Borough Council's Executive Member for Leisure, Culture and Tourism (left), said: "This is a great example of partnership working - the council owns the building, which is in a prominent place in Hasland and easy for residents to reach. This will make it so much easier for them to be able to drop in and see the police team when they are based here."

To contact the Hasland and St Leonards Safer Neighbourhood Policing Team call 101, or email chesterfield.neighbourhoods@derbyshire.pnn.police.uk.

Hasland Village Hall reopened in summer 2013 after a redevelopment, which saw new fixtures and fittings, a new flat roof and a new toilet block extension.

The building is owned by Chesterfield Borough Council and is available for hire.

The hall is regularly used by a wide range of hirers, including exercise classes, art groups, private parties, meetings, dog shows, weddings and concerts.
