Three quarters of Chesterfield schools remain open for business this morning as public sector workers strike. Many though are experiencing disruption as some year groups face a day off whilst others are able to go in for the day.
A list of schools and their status is below though some schools have not yet let us know whether they are open today.
Chesterfield job centre workers, court and driving examiners are also expected to strike today, causing disruption across the town. However the job centre is expected to remain open.
The strike comes after teaching unions NUT and ATL joined other unions including the TUC, UCU and PCS to protest nationwide against plans to change their pension plans proposed by the coalition government. Strikers say that this means they will have to work for longer and pay more contributions. The pension age has already been raised in the country,
The TUC is holding a rally in Chesterfield Town Centre today at 12 noon. All are welcome to attend.
The Chamber of commerce is warning that many parents will suffer today by losing pay as they are forced to take a ay off to loom after their children but did warn that public sector pensions need reform saying that they have "long since faced problems of affordability and reforms to bring them into line with the private sector."
This is the latest list of schools and whether they are closed or open today - in full or in part - released by Derbyshire County Council.
It will be updated during the day as we get more information.
