Alvaston & Boulton (12pts) 200-9 [50 overs] (H Adnan 101*, M Deane 4-39,
S Lacey 3-39)
drew with
Chesterfield (18pts) 241 all out [49.2 overs] (B Slater 50, D Thompson 38,
M Deane 35, S Ottewell 3-60)
REPORT: Chesterfield still seek first win
Chesterfield are still without a win in 2011 but a much-improved performance saw them come out on top in a drawn match at Alvaston & Boulton.
Ben Slater (50) hit his second half-century of the campaign and runs for Drage Thompson (38) and Michael Deane (35) enabled the visitors to post a healthy 241 despite three wickets for Steve Ottewell (3-60).
Deane (4-39) and Simon Lacey (3-39) threatened a first victory for Chesterfield but a superb unbeaten century from Hassan Adnan (101*), his first of the campaign, was enough to secure a share of the spoils for A & B who closed on a perilous 200 for 9.

Dunstall (6pts) 125 all out [44.2 overs] (M Benstead 40, J Ashdown 4-25)
lost to
Spondon (27pts) 150 all out [48.2 overs] (S Chilman 5-40)
by 25 runs
REPORT: Spondon riding high
Spondon, champions in 2007, were staring at their first defeat of the season at Dunstall having been dismissed for just 150 but Joe Ashdown returned an excellent 4 for 25 after the break to help secure a 25-run victory.
Dunstall were going along fine at 109 for 4, albeit having lost their top four batsmen including James (29) and Matt Benstead (40), but John Jennings and Andy Malkin were beginning to develop a fifth wicket stand which might well have secured a much-needed victory. Their partnership had reached 24 when Jennings was caught by Sam Kellogg off the spin of Chris Windmill (2-33) and, when Malkin fell a run later to Joe Ashdown, the first of his four scalps, Dunstall folded badly and could muster only 125.
Earlier in the day Craig Jennings (2-35) and Eddie Kelly (2-31) had given Dunstall a great start, Spondon reduced to 1 for 2 then 27 for 3, but partnerships involving Jack Ratcliffe (28), Sam Kellogg (27), Dave Hartley (23) and Chris Windmill (24) were eventually to prove crucial and the work done by the excellent Scott Chilman (5-40) eventually came to nought.
Spondon's victory leaves them trailing leaders Sandiacre by just 15pts and Dunstall, despite the defeat, sit a fairly healthy seventh.

Lullington Park (6pts) 193-8 [50 overs] (D Adams 45, L Wharton 5-49)
drew with
Ockbrook & Borrowash (20pts) 301-5 [50 overs] (M Cassar 112, J Guthrie 104, M Lineker 35, A Gough 3-44)
REPORT: Ockbrook denied by stubborn champions
An understrength Lullington Park team held on tenaciously for a draw against a strong Ockbrook & Borrowash side containing seven current or former Derbyshire CCC players.
Ockbrook skipper Kevin Dean won the toss and chose to bat and it was almost two hours before Park took a wicket with Matt Cassar and Jonathan Guthrie adding 193 for the visitor's opening. Cassar contributed 112 of these runs before finally being well caught at long off from the bowling of Jonny Shales.
Matt Linacre then joined Guthrie and took the score along to 257 before Linacre (35 off 19) offered a catch to Paul Dawson to give Gough (3-44) the first of his three wickets. Guthrie (104) reached a well-deserved century but then soon nicked Joe Eaton to Steve Rothwell.
With the score at 261 for 3 and three overs remaining the expected declaration did not come and Ockbrook added a further 40 runs to push the score beyond 300, only the second time that Lullington have conceded such a total in the Premier League. Lullington did not bowl as badly as the score suggests, Gough as mentioned previously performing tidily and skipper Jonny Shales at last finding some rhythm after a year of little or no bowling.
Park's batsmen, though, faced a daunting task. All bar one made starts but only David Adams (45) managed to go beyond 30, adding 50 with Shales for the fifth wicket, and a succession of Lian Wharton wickets (5-49) left Sandiacre in charge with Park's reply on a shaky 145 for 7. Odds were very much now on an Ockbrook win but Matt Sanderson and Alan Gough (29*) put on a priceless 40 runs for the eighth wicket with Wharton and Derbyshire off spinner Jake Needham unable to part them.
Needham was strangely off colour going for a wicketless 49 off 10 overs. Dean returned to capture the wicket of Sanderson but was perhaps rueing his earlier decision not to make a declaration.

Quarndon (19pts) 256-7 [50 overs] (M Dowman 65, J Ede 74, M Sultan 50,
N Dumelow 33, N Walden 3-75)
drew with
Alfreton (6pts) 162-6 [50 overs] (G Bush 38, J Clarke 47, N Dumelow 5-33)
REPORT: Gritty Alfreton survive at Quarndon
Fourth-placed Quarndon were on top from the start against bottom of the table Alfreton but the visitors secured a fairly comfortable draw after the break.
Mat Dowman (65) and James Ede (74) added 111 excellent runs for Quarndon's opening wicket and they never looked back thereafter although a couple of quick wickets from Stuart McRobert (2-62) promised better things for Alfreton.
From 117 for 2 further runs from Nathan Dumelow (33) and Muhammad Sultan (50), the latter's fifty coming off only 33 deliveries, swept the innings along to a final tally of 256 for 7. Aussie Nic Walden (3-75) improved his figures with a two late wickets but the damage was done and Alfreton faced a difficult task after tea.
Dowman's superb earlier effort included no fewer than 2 sixes and 10 fours whilst skipper James Ede struck a six and 8 fours in his excellent 74, an innings that earned him the man-of-the match accolade.
Graham Bush (38) replied solidly for Alfreton but Jake Simpson's first real failure of the season, coupled with two Dumelow strikes, left the reply on a nervy 71 for 4. Dumelow (5-33) proved a constant threat but a stand of 58 for the fifth wicket between Andy Gwatkin (31) and Jonathan Clarke (47*) gave Alfreton some much-needed breathing space.
Dumelow captured his fourth and fifth scalps in Gwatkin and Adam Burton but Clarke was immovable and Alfreton closed on 162 for 6 and avoided defeat for the first time this season.

Rolls Royce Leisure (0pts) 112 all out [31.5 overs] (R Green 4-63, I Banks 3-16, J Lockhart 3-29)
lost to
Ilkeston Rutland (22pts) 116-1 [20.3 overs] (D Smit 72*)
by 9 wickets
REPORT: Rutland off the bottom
Ilkeston Rutland lifted themselves off the foot of the table by inflicting a third successive defeat on Rolls Royce Leisure who have come crashing back down to earth after their opening day win at Chesterfield.
The writing was on the wall from the moment James Lockhart (3-29) punctured Rahib Ali's defences, Royces slipping to a dire 34 for 4 with Robert Green (4-63) joining the party. Middle order defiance from Naeem Akhtar (26) promised little more than a prolonged agony and Ian Banks (3-16) came along to quickly tie up the innings on 112 in the 32nd over.
Akhtar removed Alex Park after tea with only eight runs on the board but a superb knock from Dave Smit (72*) secured an easy nine-wicket win in only the 21st over. Martin Brandrick (22*) played an excellent supporting role to Smit who cracked a six and 12 fours during his 75-ball stay.

Ticknall (12pts) 231-7 [50 overs] (L Harvey 45, P Borrington 115*,
J Jordison 4-65)
drew with
Sandiacre Town (17pts) 272-9 [50 overs] (J Chapman 60, M Gouldstone 39,
D Jordison 47, S Khan 5-46)
REPORT: Borrington ton denies league-leaders
Paul Borrington's unbeaten century for Ticknall ended Sandiacre Town's three-match winning streak, the Beechwood Saab Premier League leaders having to settle for the better of a draw.
The Derbyshire batsman thwarted the Sandiacre attack from beginning to end of the Ticknall reply which finished on 231 for 7 - Sandiacre had earlier posted a very challenging 272 for 9.
Ticknall made the more promising start to the match, with Sam Jubber and Shahid Khan taking an early wicket apiece, but from 33 for 2, James Chapman (60) hit back although he lost overseas star Naveed Qureshi with score on 73. Matt Gouldstone (39) provided better support and the pair then added 61 for the fourth wicket to give the scoreboard a much healthier appearance.
Dave Jordison (47) then added 49 quick runs with Gouldstone which set the scene for the final run chase, a chase that took the score well beyond 250 despite wickets for Khan (5-46) who completed his second successive five wicket haul.
Luke Harvey (45) and Borrington (115*) replied in typically solid fashion but their opening stand of 118 was not nearly quick enough to put the Sandiacre attack, headed by Ryan McFadyean and Dan Wheeldon, under sustained pressure. Even so, while Borrington remained there was always a chance but wickets began to fall in an attempt to force the pace with John Jordison (4-65) taking his wicket-tally for the season to sixteen in the process.
Sam Jubber's dismissal to leave the score on 196 for 7 signalled the end of Ticknall's run chase but Borrington (17 fours), in the company of Jack Lamb, managed to eke out a few extra bonus points for the home side.
Sandiacre's lead at the top has been trimmed to 15pts as a result with Ticknall not too far off the pace in fifth.

Clay Cross (4pts) 168 all out [43 overs] (B Hartley 44, M Footitt 5-38)
lost to
Stainsby Hall (22pts) 170-4 [31.5 overs] (A Lynch 48, T Wood 67)
by 6 wickets
REPORT: Footitt undoes Clay Cross
Derbyshire's Mark Footitt had a big say in Stainsby Hall's six-wicket win at Clay Cross, returning a superb 5 for 38 as the hosts stuttered to a disappointing 168 all out.
Only Clay Cross skipper Bil Hartley (44) was able to make a telling contribution with the bat, having seen off the threat of quickie Junead Zaman, but with Tom Wood (2-19) adding to the problems posed by Footitt the home side were well short of a par score.
An early breakthrough never materialised for Clay Cross after tea and when they did break through with the score on 41 their joy was short-lived as Tom Wood (67) was on hand to add 81 for the second wicket with remaining opener Ashley Lynch (48).
The home side managed to grab a further bonus point with two late wickets but Stainsby were comfortable winners in only the 32nd over.

beat
Rolleston (5pts) 220-8 [50 overs] (T Rutter 83*, G Marshall 49, M Ford 34)
by 8 wickets
REPORT: Riffitullah dominates in win over Rolleston
There was no stopping Clifton's Riffitullah Mohmand who smashed a superb unbeaten 144 to steer his side to an emphatic eight-wicket win over Rolleston, a result that consolidates their third place in the table.
Tom Rutter's unbeaten 83 before the break, coupled with runs from both Gareth Marshall (49) and Matt Ford (34), had enabled Rolleston to post 220 for 8 from their 50 overs but it proved around 30 to 40 runs short as Pakistani star Mohmand completed victory for his side in just 46.1 overs having had the company of Aichin Chand (51) along the way who stroked an excellent half-century.

Eckington (7pts) 221-5 [54 overs] (R Pretorius 120*, K Fields 33)
drew with
Swarkestone (18pts) 331-4dec [46 overs] (R Whiteley 136*, L Thomas 94,
J Balfour 3-82)
REPORT: Swarkestone runs but no victory
Swarkestone piled on the runs at Eckington but the home side, and bottom club, Eckington were in no mood for surrender and comfortably batted out 54 overs after Swarkestone had declared their innings on a massive 311 for 4.
Derbyshire's Ross Whiteley powered his way to a magnificent unbeaten 136, somewhat overshadowing Luke Thomas's no less outstanding innings of 94, and Swarkestone were able to say enough was enough after 46 overs.
Eckington's Jonathan Balfour, a 15-year old junior, came away with the fairly respectable figures of 3 for 82.
Not to be outdone in the batting stakes, South African Ruhan Pretorius, until this match only successful with the ball, matched Whiteley's knock with a fine unbeaten innings of 120. Karl Fields chipped in with a useful 33 and Eckington reached a comfortable, albeit distant, 221 for 5.

Marehay (22pts) 244-5 [44.5 overs] (W Lategan 100, M Camm 78)
beat
Staveley Welfare (7pts) 240-7 [50 overs] (Bullimore 93, P May 50,
C Bullimore 58, D Mills 3-51, D Buckley 3-24 Inc Hat-Trick)
by 5 wickets
REPORT: Lategan powers Marehay to first win
South African Waldo Lategan bludgeoned 3 sixes and 10 fours in a run-a-ball century to see Marehay to an excellent victory, their first of 2011, at the expense of newly-promoted Staveley Welfare who had posted a challenging 240 for 7.
Dean Mills (3-51) claimed the early wicket of Staveley's Tom Bullimore but a 120-run partnership between Joe Bullimore (93) and Paul May (50) put the visitors in the driving seat.
David Buckley (3-24) then grabbed the initiative for Marehay, Staveley stumbling to 129 for 4, but a Chris Bullimore (58) half-century off just 49 deliveries turned the match once more in Staveley's favour.
Their advantage lasted only the length of the tea break, however, as Lategan, in league with the equally effective Martin Camm (78), added 155 for Marehay's first wicket from where the victory was never really in doubt.
Chris Bullimore (2-55) and Chris Pemberton (2-52) gave their side brief hope with the Marehay reply dipping from 200 for 1 to 236 for 5 but Marehay had time on their side and a five wicket victory was completed off the fifth ball of the 45th over.

P Burgoyne 3-50, J Greenhalgh 3-58)
lost to
Denby (22pts) 223-5 [48.5 overs] (S Bhatt 77, C Durham 42, J Greenhalgh 36,
E Lander 3-52)
by 5 wickets
REPORT: 100% Denby
Denby made it four wins out of four in Abbey Glass Division One with victory over Matlock and they now have a six point lead at the top of the table.
After deciding to bat first, Matlock made a solid start through Kevin Leatherday (60) and Minesh Keshwala (23), the pair adding 76 for the opening wicket, but Peter Burgoyne (3-50) and Joe Greenhalgh (3-58) hit back for Denby and the home side slipped to 146 for 5.
A brilliant 37-ball knock of 53 not out by Andy Rogers, featuring 2 sixes and 5 fours, turned things around and the Matlock innings finally reached a challenging 222 for 6.
Sunil Bhatt (77) and Chris Durham (42) got the Denby reply off to just the right start, adding 83 valuable runs, and Greenhalgh (36) kept up the pace adding a further 69 with surviving opener Bhatt for the second wicket.
Ed Lander (3-52) and Burton de Wett (2-63) clawed back some ground for Matlock but Denby were not to be denied and Peter Burgoyne (21*) shepherded his side to victory by five wickets with seven balls to spare.

Sawley & LE Park (13pts) 243-9 [50 overs] (G Birley 80, S Brown 67,
S Lillie 5-56)
drew with
Elvaston (17pts) 258-8 [50 overs] (M Archer 60, J Harrold 40, C Ault 45,
D Randle 32, J Glover 3-54)
REPORT: Tight finish at Sawley
Sawley & Long Eaton Park were knocked off top spot in Division One after having to be satisfied with a losing-draw at home to Elvaston.
All three results were possible as Sawley closed in on Elvaston's 258 for 8 but in the end they were forced to hang on for the draw, closing just short on 243 for 9. There were runs before the break from Matt Archer (60), Jake Harrold (40), Charlie Ault (45) and Dan Randle (32) with only Jeff Glover (3-54) able to make any significant impact with the ball for Sawley.
Simon Lillie (5-56) claimed his second-successive five-wicket haul after the interval but, in spite of his efforts, Gary Birley (80) and Steve Brown (67) gave Sawley every chance of victory.
The draw leaves Sawley six points behind new-leaders Denby with Elvaston some way adrift in seventh place.
