REPORTS FOR SATURDAY MAY 28th 2011

 

 

Division One

League leaders Parkhead showed their why they have made a good start to the season with an emphatic win at home over Apperknowle. The visitors posted a very good 223 all out (A. Crookes 81, P Loughlin 59). The home side were not daunted by this as they hit 224 -1 in reply. This was due to a magnificent 121 from W.Helliwell and an unbeaten 78 from Burkinshaw).

All rounder David Ward is having a grat season. He played a major role in Holmesfield's win at bottom of the table Hundall. Ward hit 53 in his side's total of 189-7 (P.Yardy 5-61). He then took 4-71 as the home side made a good reply falling nineteen runs short at 170 all out (David Marsh 59).

De La Salle picked up their first win of the season with a nine wicket victory at Sheffield Centralians. They dismissed the home side for 74 with Wainwright having an excellent return of 7-35. They then raced to 75-1 in reply.

Sheffield University Staff are going well. Batting first they made 182-5 (I.Radotra 76), then bowled out visitors Hollinsend Meths for 123 (M.Sharma
4-23) to move up to second in the table.

 

Division Two

Weston Park were quickly brought down to earth after last weeks massive score. They were bowled out for just 94 at Dronfield Woodhouse. Pick of the bowlers being I. Robinson 4-46 and K. Lewis 4-43. The home side racing to an eight wicket win with C.Sanders hitting an unbeaten 46.

Stocksbridge are the division's leaders. Batting first at home to Ashford they posted a score of 171 all out (W.Hughes 50, J.Tomlinson 41), then dismissed the visitors for 125, Les Harris bowling superbly with figures of 7-19.

Calver had a six wicket win at home over Civil Service. The away side batting first made 170 with E.Coxhead claiming 6-71 and Frier again amongst the runs hitting a quick 50. Tim Hilton acored the majority of the home side's runs with an excellent unbeaten 96 in their 172-6

Grindleford had a good home win over Millhouses Works 2nd. They made a modest total of 126 (R.Khan 4-30, P.Holmes 4-27) , but bowled the visitors out for 84 (Bingley 5-27) to win by 42 runs.

Ridgeway are going through a difficult period. They were all out for 64
(D.Andrews 7-16) chasing Hallam 3rd's 165-9 (J.Stewart 48, Cooper 4-39)

Transport 148 all out had a thirty nine run home win over Parkhead 2nd 109 all out.

 

Division Three

Collegiate 4ths are going well in the league and chalked up an impressive ten wicket win at Richmond who batting first made a useful 204-6 (A.Holland 79, C.Allen 46). This proved no match for the visitors with openers C.Stewart 126 no and E. Winter 62 no  blasting their way to victory.

League leaders Baslow were made to fight to keep their one hundred percent winning record at the lovely ground of Bakewell. Batting first they totalled 179-8 (C.Cowley 41). The home side made a good reply finally being dismissed for 155 (A.Hone 4-28)

Millhouses Works 3rd 183-8 (M.Naqui 42) defeated Shardlows 119      

TRS 93-6 gained their first win by beating Stocksbridge 2nd 91 (Abass 4-14)

Whittington Wanderers 128-6 also had a good win over Sheffield University Staff 2nd 126 (J.Needham 7-26, P.Fletcher no)

 

 

Division Four

The leaders in this division are Totley Sports who had a five wicket victory over Coal Aston 3rd‘s. They made 181-5 (N.Abdul 66) in reply to the visitors 180-7 (G.Woolley 51, R. Wildman 42).

Apperknowle 2nd 127-9 (Booker 6-43) were beaten at home by Youlgreave Lodge 128-3 (Podmore 48 no, Thorpe 46 no)

Chesterfield Barbarians 2nd 135-7 had a three wicket victory over Hundall 2nd  131 (S.Hoole 5-37). This moved them up to second in the table.

De La Salle 2nd 164 (T.Barney 61, A.Shah 4-32) were defeated at home by Sheffield Centralians 2nd 165-7 (F.Ahmed 48, T.Barney 4-44)
                  
Hollinsend Meths 2nd batting first totalled 138 (S.Park 5-22) Sheffield Zingari  replying with 142-7

Walkley hit an excellent score of 271-8 (R.Wing 122, P.Siddall 69). This proved too much for Hathersage 2nd 155 (M.Rhodes 70, T.Frith 5-27)

 

Division Five

A close game was expected between Sheffield Collegiate 5th and Sheffield Medics, who were both unbeaten. Medics batting first were all out for 153 (Langdale 4-30, Akhira 62). In reply Collegiate fell nine runs short being bowled out for 144 (Wright 70).

There was a super century for P McGrath who hit 160 in Ashford 2nd's 272 -2 (O.Watson 60). Whittington Wanderers 2nd were then rushed out for just 59

Ridgeway 2nd were also bowled our for a low score of 78 in reply to Hallam 4th's186-9

Civil Service 2nd 105 - 1 (J.Jewitt 40 no) had an easy win at home over winless Chesterfield Barbarians 3rd (T.Rolf 47 no)

Collegiate 5th 144 (Wright 70) were involved in a close encounter with Sheffield Medics 153 (Langdale 4-30, Akhira 62) who recorded a nine run win

Woodhouse 164 were beaten at home by Stocksbridge 3rd 185-8 who now move to the top of the division.
