North East Derbyshire District Council Set For Office Relocation

Thursday 26th March 2015

April 2015 will signal the start of a brand new era for North East Derbyshire District Council as they start relocating to their new headquarters on Mill Lane in Wingerworth.April 2015 will signal the start of a brand new era for North East Derbyshire District Council as they start relocating to their new headquarters on Mill Lane in Wingerworth.

The Council purchased the former CPL building in November 2013 and as the refurbishment programme is nearing completion, the first departments are all set to move from the current offices on Saltergate and into their new accommodation.

The relocation will take place on a phased basis over several weekends in April and May to limit the amount of disruption caused to residents and the first departments are set to move over the weekend of 11th and 12th April.

Details on which department will be relocated when, are available on the Council's website at www.ne-derbyshire.gov.uk.

Council Chief Executive, Wes Lumley said, "We need to make sure there is minimal disruption to both our residents and our services whilst we move. That's why we have taken the decision to move over a number of weekends, meaning we can iron out any teething problems as we go along.

"This is a big change for everyone, residents and staff included. Saltergate has been our home for over thirty-years. But, relocating to Wingerworth means that our headquarters will be located within our District, we'll have office accommodation that is fit for purpose and cost effective and we will have a building that is flexible in terms of providing us with extra income through renting out office space to other organisations."

The Mill Lane office complex will also house a new Customer Contact Centre service (phone, email, face-to-face, payments machine), but the Council will also keep a reception presence and payment facility at Saltergate.
