Derbyshire Fire And Rescue Is One Of The Best!

Monday 11th June 2012

Derbyshire Fire And Rescue Is One Of The Best!Derbyshire Fire & Rescue Services' Chief Fire Officer/Chief Executive, Sean Frayne and Chair of the Fire Authority, David Wilson are proud to announce that Derbyshire Fire & Rescue Service (DFRS) has been awarded the highest possible level of achievement, measured against the Fire and Rescue Service Equality Framework, this being Excellence.

A team of four Peer Assessors undertook the assessment over a three day period. Interviews with individual employees and focus groups were carried out, along with visits to partner and community projects to hear at first hand, and to confirm the Service's view of its Excellent status.

Chief Fire Officer/Chief Executive, Sean Frayne said: I am extremely proud that Derbyshire Fire & Rescue Service has been awarded Excellence.Chief Fire Officer/Chief Executive, Sean Frayne (left) said "I am extremely proud that Derbyshire Fire & Rescue Service has been awarded Excellence.

"Equality and Diversity has been deeply embedded into the fabric of the Service and the communities that it serves, this award is in recognition of that.

"DFRS is only the fifth Fire and Rescue Service to achieve the Excellence level, something that without the dedication and hard work of all our employees would not have been possible.

"I would also like to take this opportunity to thank our partners. Without their commitment and support the overall outcome would not have been achievable."

At the end of the three-day assessment, feedback was given to the Services' Strategic leadership Team and Councillors from the Fire Authority. It was a relief for them to receive confirmation of their belief in their Excellent status and work.

DFRS are committed to continuous improvement and engagement and would ask that the community tell them what they want from their Excellent Fire and Rescue Service.

A consultation on the Service's priorities is being launched shortly and they would encourage you to take part in this. Follow them on Facebook and Twitter for the launch date of the consultation and for regular fire safety updates.
