Derbyshire Fire & Rescue Services' Annual Awards Ceremony

On Thursday 6th September 2012, Derbyshire Fire & Rescue Service held its annual awards ceremony at Pride Park Stadium, Derby. Derbyshire's Chief Fire Officer / Chief Executive, Sean Frayne, hosted the event for employees and their families.

On Thursday 6th September 2012, Derbyshire Fire & Rescue Service held its annual awards ceremony at Pride Park Stadium, Derby.

This year over 50 employees were recognised for their achievements within the Derbyshire Fire & Rescue Service. Twenty four operational employees were awarded the 20 Year Queen's Fire Brigade Long Service and Good Conduct Medal, presented by The Lord-Lieutenant of Derbyshire, Mr William Tucker. This medal is presented to recognise those who have provided long and meritorious service to the UK Fire & Rescue Service.

In addition, 26 employees were honoured for 30 and 40 Years' Long Service and Good Conduct in the Fire and Rescue Service and Local Government. They were presented with lead crystal by the Chair of the Derbyshire Fire & Rescue Authority, Councillor David Wilson.

The ceremony also hosted the Service's Commitment to Excellence Awards. These awards are presented to those employees who have gone that extra mile, who have left their mark in their field to such a degree that their colleagues feel they deserve special recognition.

This year, 58 individuals/teams were nominated by their colleagues and the 5 winners of the Being Proud, High Achieving, Being Positive, Working Together and Making Derbyshire Safer Awards were announced at the event.

Special recognition was also given to the Service's Road Traffic Collision Extrication and Trauma Team who were awarded certificates by the Chief Fire Officer / Chief Executive,

The winners received an individual certificate and were presented with the category shield by Chief Fire Officer / Chief Executive, Sean Frayne.

"In May this year, Derbyshire Fire & Rescue Service was awarded 'Excellence' under the Fire & Rescue Service Equality Framework. This would not have been possible without the outstanding work delivered by all our employees.
