Tuesday 6th December 2011
A superb first week played on a cold crisp last Tuesday night on Tupton Hall's all weather pitch.
Footy Legends is a new, Chesterfield based football league for 6 a side teams and is now looking for new teams to join them. Run by a group of Chesterfield based men, it meets 8:30pm - 10:30 on Tuesday nights at Tupton Hall School.
Reports from the Leagues will feature regularly on The Chesterfield Post and the first week's report from Tuesday 29th November is here.
A fighting display by Birdholme FC, saw them give a good performance after a shaky start.
In the second game of the night Old Guns United were looking in fine attacking form scoring 3, but were unlucky to come up against the outstanding attacking play of Danesmoor Dynamos who put on an attacking master class, finally winning their match 7-3.
With Ben Meadley and Jamie Rowan pulling the strings, Danesmoor looked different class. Ryan Lindley notching a hat-trick to go top of the scoring charts. Scott Woodhouse praised his Danesmoor team saying, "A fantastic performance tonight."
Then, onto shock of the night with Puma Kings putting on a fantastic team display to brush aside and score 6 past a make shift Poppleton Croft team.
Puma Kings looked on fine form with Liam Charlesworth, Ben Beaumont, Jonathan Davies and Tom Beaumont all opening their scoring accounts. Their defence lead by Richard Hickman and goalkeeper Michael Drew were on amazing form and also kept a clean sheet. Drew was thrilled with his team's performance, "An amazing game tonight - well played people, same again next week!"
Poppleton showed glimpses of what they can bring to the league and will certainly have better days to come. Poppleton goalkeeper Andy Morris said. "Shame about the result - but we weren't too surprised as we had to put together a makeshift side due to injuries and illness."
