PANTHERS (U14's)  29 - 27 DERBY (U14's)

After a six week lay off due to bad weather both teams were desperate to play rugby and on a morning ideal for rugby a cracking game ensued.

The early pressure came from Chesterfield, but having failed to cross the line they fell behind to a breakaway try from the visitors.

Undeterred, the home side continued to press and were rewarded when Matt Ford touched down and Alistair Taylor converted to give them the lead. This was not however to last long as Derby went over to take a 10 - 7 lead into the break.

Derby started the stronger in the second half and scored in the corner before Dan Burrows clawed back a try and Taylor again converted to keep Panthers in touch. That only spurred Derby on though and they quickly ran in two tries to take a commanding lead.

They had not however allowed for the late show from Panthers as with only two minutes left on the clock, Taylor found his way through to touch down in the corner leaving the score at 24 - 27. Derby made the restart and Chesterfield immediately ran the ball at them. From a ruck the ball was worked out to Nick Foan on the wing and he dived over in the corner to clinch the win with the final move of the game.

This now puts the Chesterfield team on top of their NLD Shield group and a semi final place beckons.

Man of the match was Matt Lamin.
