THIRD GROUP WIN PUTS PANTHERS IN NLD SEMI FINAL

PANTHERS (U14's)  20 - 7 ILKESTON (U14's)

The Chesterfield Panthers U14 Squad through to NLD Semi Final


A first half which could have swung either way saw Ilkeston lead at half time after a Nick Foan try had been cancelled out by a try and conversion but that was to be the last points for the visitors as Chesterfield stepped up the pace to dominate the second period.

Strong forward work throughout the second half gradually wore down the Ilkeston defence and with ten minutes left, Fergus Wish scooped up a pass to crash over the line and restore the lead.



This was all that Panthers needed to fire them up and tries from Nick Foan and a spectacular solo effort from Aiden Swift, collecting the ball in his own half and running three quarters of the pitch, sealed a victory which will put the team into the semi final of the NLD Shield competition.

Joint men of the match were Aiden Swift and Fergus Wish.


OXFORD LADIES  12 - 83 PANTHERS LADIES

Yet another win for the Panthers Ladies keeps them at the top of Midlands Conference 1 as they continue to seek a second successive promotion.

In a game where they never looked threatened the first try came after just two minutes and they then continued to flow throughout the game.

Leading the way once again was Mica Grosett and with a rampant forward line, the backs got plenty of ball to allow her to run at Longton at will.

With Kim Hyslop in fine kicking form four conversions and a penalty completed a comfortable victory.
