Staveley Man Jailed For
Drugs Offences

Monday 6th September 2010
A man from Staveley has been jailed for more than two years after admitting possession of heroin with intent to supply.

David Robertson, of Belmont Drive, pleaded guilty to two counts of possession of a Class A drug with intent to supply and one of possession of a Class A drug at a hearing at Derby Crown Court.

Robertson, 31, was arrested on February 13 at his address after officers found heroin, weighing scales, foil and cash.

He was arrested again on March 3 after being stopped and searched by plain clothed officers. They found six wraps of heroin in his pockets, a mobile phone and cash. A warrant was then carried out at his home and a small amount of brown powder was found as well as plastic bags and foil.

On April 26, officers from a pro-active unit followed Robertson in a car to Barker Lane, Chesterfield. After he made a suspected deal and returned to the car the vehicle was blocked from moving by officers.

Robertson ran off, discarding a vitamin bottle filled with six wraps of heroin and a mobile phone. He was chased by officers and arrested a short time later.

The drugs were seized and destroyed under the Misuse of Drugs Act.

He pleaded guilty to all three offences and was jailed for 30 months by Judge Peter Joyce QC at Derby Crown Court on Tuesday, August 31st.
