Chesterfield residents, taxi drivers and operators are being asked for their views on a new taxi licensing policy. The consultation will consider a number of issues -including vehicle conditions, dealing with drivers and owners convicted of offences, signage, driver and vehicle tests and accessibility to all members of the community.
Cllr David Stone, Lead Member for Safe, Healthy and Active Communities said: "The policy will make clear the obligations that drivers and taxi owners have so that there is a consistently safe and high standard of service for residents and visitors.
"The Council would like to get a good selection of views from residents, drivers and operators so they can have a say on the policy and we can make sure that everyone's opinion is fully considered before the final policy is produced."
The consultation period runs from 20th September and closes on the 29th of October.

It's hoped that once the results of the consultation have been analysed, the new standards will be in place and operating by the 1st April 2011.
