No Decisions About You, Without You

Tuesday 3rd May 2011

A landmark event, aimed at helping shape the future of the local NHS is to take place at the B2 net on 5th May.

GPs from the newly-formed North Derbyshire GP Consortium, which includes 31 GP practices covering North Dales (Matlock to the Hope Valley), Chesterfield, Dronfield, Clowne and Bolsover, are testing government plans to reform the NHS ahead of the national deadline and are asking local people to attend to find out how any changes may affect them.

The event will kick off at the stadium at 6.30pm, running to 7.30pm. A buffet will be available from 6pm.

Dr Ben Milton, Interim Chair of the North Derbyshire Consortium, said: "GPs will be at the helm of the NHS decision-making process, so this is a historic chance for people to gain a real insight into how we can all work together to meet the vision of a truly patient-centred NHS.

"Our aim is to place patients at the heart of the NHS, so we'd urge anyone with an interest to come along to this event to help influence its direction, both now and for the future."

During the event GPs from the group will discuss four key areas. People will also have the opportunity to ask questions and see how they can become involved to ensure there really is 'no decision about me, without me' when it comes to local health care.

Also on the agenda are presentations about how people would like GPs to communicate with them.

The North Derbyshire GP Consortium were recently awarded 'pathfinder' status by the Department of Health to test NHS reforms on behalf of 230,000 patients in the North Dales (Matlock to the Hope Valley), Chesterfield, Dronfield, Clowne and Bolsover area.
