Recently released figures show that a range of activities organised for young people in Chesterfield during the summer holidays have had a positive impact on anti-social behaviour (ASB).
In the Dunston Moor and St Helen's area there a 28 per cent fall in reports of ASB during the six week holidays compared to the same period last year.
A wide range of activities was provided in the area throughout the summer, by the local Safer Neighbourhood Policing Teams and organisations including Sporting Futures and Gamezone.
The figures are particularly positive for organisers as they come on top of a reduction in ASB over the previous year.
Up to 150 youngsters were regularly attending cheerleading, rugby and kickboxing sessions and discos were also provided in locations in Dunston Moor and St Helen's.
A group of youngsters will be taken to Avago Karting at Sheepbridge on Saturday, September 25th as a reward for their regular attendance.
Sergeant Les Rawson from local Safer Neighbourhood teams, said: "I am extremely pleased with the partnership work which has been undertaken in Chesterfield over the summer holidays, the figures speak for themselves.
"During the times the sessions were on and for a number of hours before and after the sessions we had no calls regarding nuisance behaviour in the area which is fantastic.
"My officers and the many partner organisations involved have done a great job."
