A 42-year old man has been jailed for 15 months for assaulting his ex-partner at her home in Clay Cross.
Paul Chapman admitted the offence of assault occasioning actual bodily harm, which happened on April 2, 2009, when he appeared at Derby Crown Court on September 15, 2010.
He was also sentenced to two months' concurrent sentence for harassment with a restraining order imposed upon him for five years.
Chapman, from Cemetery Road, Danesmoor, had punched the woman several times causing a cut to her lip, requiring five stitches and knocking a tooth out. He subsequently sent her text messages and made silent telephone calls to her during a period of several weeks.
