MP For North East Derbyshire, Natascha Engel yesterday challenged Education Secretary Michael Gove in Parliament over the money the government owes to School Sport Partnerships after his change of mind.
After a campaign led by children, students, parents and teachers to save School Sport Partnerships, the Government changed it's mind and announced that it would not scrap the scheme.
Natascha Engel MP said: "But fine words are not the same as money.
"I met with School Sport Partnership coordinators this weekend who confirmed our fears".
Ms Engel argued that the government has reduced the funding for this scheme in North East Derbyshire from nearly £190,000 to less than £30,000.
As a result, she asked the Education Secretary to reassure the organisation that the funding would be restored, saying: "Children, parents and their teachers were delighted last month that the Government changed their minds about scrapping school sports partnerships.
"Unfortunately, however, the Secretary of State forgot to reinstate the money for them.
"I know that he is a very busy man and it was just an oversight, but will he take this opportunity to reassure the House that he will give school sports partnerships their money back?"
School Sports Partnerships is a joint initiative between primary, secondary and specialist state schools designed to increase sporting opportunities for children. School Sports Partnership Coordinators help schools to work together through the curriculum, Out of School Hours Learning, inter-school competitions and developing links with local sports and activity clubs.
North East Derbyshire's School Sport Partnership received £188,583 last year (2009-2010) but the money they are expected to get next year is around £26,622.
The money that has been allocated will pay for one secondary teacher for one day per week each in Tupton Hall School, Dronfield Henry Fanshawe School and Eckington School to coordinate this activity.
Karen Shopland, Partnership Development Manager for North East Derbyshire School Sport Partnership, backed Ms Engel's stance, commenting that: "The money that we have had confirmed so far isn't enough! We need to hear what further funding is being made available as soon as possible.
"We can then continue our planning and ensure that we deliver our promise of creating a lasting legacy of London 2012 for the young people across North East Derbyshire."
