Craig Davies has been rewarded for his part in firing Chesterfield to the top of the table after being named League Two PFA fans' player of the month.

His brace in the 4-3 victory against Shrewsbury Town just over a week ago took his tally into double figures so far in this campaign, his best start to a season since he bagged 14 goals before Christmas for his previous club Oldham.

The 24-year-old Welshman, said: "For me personally, it is probably the best start I've had at any of the teams I have played for.

"I am working hard in training and hopefully I can keep up the standard of performances and keep scoring the goals".

Davies, who has won five caps for Wales, added: "It's still early days and we won't be getting carried away. We'll keep working hard and hopefully at the end of the season we'll be right up there.

"But remember what happened last year - we were in the play-offs for most of the season and then we blew it.

"Not many teams who are top of the table in October have managed to stay there so we have to stick together."

As well as the on-pitch presentation, the fan - selected from those who voted for Craig - will also enjoy full match corporate hospitality and will receive a signed framed photograph of the presentation.
