NOTTINGHAMIANS 1st XV 3 - 20 PANTHERS 1st XV
With traffic chaos delaying the Panthers arrival until 10 minutes before kick off the game started with Nottinghamians taking the play to their visitors.
Some careless handling prevented any score and eventually Panthers settled and took control.
The first points came from the boot of Franck Derrien with a well taken penalty and a try from Ricky Poulter following a penalty to the home team gave Panthers a lead at the break of 8 - 3.
After the interval, Panthers picked up the pace and drove forward time after time but some great defending by the home team prevented any score. Points had to come though and eventually a great solo try from Tye Rose was the icing on the cake. David Simms, back in action after a considerable lay off, ran in to score a third try and with Luke Cocking converting, the Chesterfield team completed their sixth successive win.
Man of the match was Ricky Poulter.
Chesterfield entertain Skegness on Saturday for their final league game of the season and will be looking to consolidate 4th place in the league. Kick off is 3:00pm at Stonegravels.
PANTHERS 2nd XV 55 - 24 SHEFFIELD OAKS
A great performance from the home side, taking the lead after five minutes with a try and conversion from Scott Widdowson only for Sheffield to level.
Mick Gough then scored and Widdowson converted, but Sheffield came back a second time before the Panthers finally stamped their mark on the game with tries from Jordan Adams and Jordan Harrison, both of which Widdowson converted to give a lead at half time of 28 - 14.
The visitors opened the second half with a score but that just spurred Chesterfield on and a penalty from Widdowson's ever reliable boot and then a brilliant team performance saw further tries from Widdowson and Harrison plus one each for Phil Cawthorne and Chris Cooper, along with two conversions from Widdowson, bringing a comfortable victory from the best performance so far this season.
The Man of the match was award was shared between Scott Widdowson and Ged Dernley.
BAKEWELL MANNERIANS (U 11's) 31 - 31 PANTHERS (U 11's)
TAYLOR STARS IN HIGH SCORING THRILLER
Playing a double header against a strong Bakewell side the Panthers Under 11's team (below) put on a creditable performance in the second game after having been outclassed and outpaced by the home team in the first game.
Upping the tempo of their game, Chesterfield took the play to Bakewell and George Taylor opened the scoring with a winding run from within his own half. Bakewell struck back with two tries but Taylor had now got the taste for scoring and ran in two further tries before half time. Ben Patrick converted to give Panthers the lead.
The second period saw the score swing either way as Patrick scored a further try and then Bakewell pulled one back but it was Taylor who starred as he ran in a fourth try which, with conversions from Hayden Bailey and Brendan Potgieter, looked to have sealed the game.
Bakewell were not to be outdone though and some persistent work saw them end the game with a try to level the scores in what had been an exciting game to watch.
Man of the match was George Taylor.
