Excitement is growing as Chesterfield's new £20 million four-star hotel prepares to open. The project remains on track for a November launch, with the interior of the hotel now starting to take shape. With the fascia complete, the first bedrooms, kitchen equipment and, most importantly, hot tubs, have now been installed.
It's a particularly interesting time for the Casa team, who up to now have only had architects drawings and their imaginations to go on:
"We've all worked in hospitality for a long time so we know how much personality a hotel can have." says Stuart Downham, Hotel Operations Director. "With Casa, we're starting to see that personality take shape, and it's a really exciting experience. It's a unique property that combines really beautiful design with forward-thinking ideas about how to best use modern buildings."
Casa is a mixed use development, and as well as a 100 rooms the hotel will include the headquarters for Global Brands, owner Steve Perez's hugely successful, Chesterfield-based drinks company.
A local boy, Perez was determined to locate the new HQ in Chesterfield, and this will mean jobs creation and new business opportunities for the town.
The development will be a hotel for the local community, providing sophisticated and inviting spaces for functions, weddings and parties. And food-lovers will delight in the Spanish-influenced Cocina restaurant, where modern British classics will sit alongside traditional Spanish dishes such as tapas and paella.
David James, Chief Executive of Visit Peak District & Derbyshire, said:
"Chesterfield's first four star hotel will be a huge asset in attracting more visitors, both to the town itself, to the surrounding area and to the wider region."
He added: "Tourism is currently worth more than £1.4 billion to the county's economy and supports around 25,000 jobs, and projects like this - key to Chesterfield's rebirth as a thriving centre for both business and leisure - can only strengthen it's value in driving regeneration and future prosperity for all." |
