Breast Is Best In Bolsover

Friday 6th July 2012

Bolsover mum Terri Lee was guest of honour at a breastfeeding awareness family day and picnic at Bolsover Castle, organised by Derbyshire Community Health Services NHS Trust.

Terri and one year old daughter Jaycie, were invited to Bolsover's Breast Is Best day to give the celebrations some extra lift with the launch of 40 pink balloons

Terri
and one year old daughter Jaycie (above), were invited to give the celebrations some extra lift with the launch of 40 pink balloons, at the family day on Tuesday 26th June, to honour her family's starring role on the home page of a new Breastfeeding Family Online website.

Terri, aged 27, from Nether Springs Road, Bolsover, said support was the key to success, "I've had good support from everyone and my partner Stephen has been brilliant, sorting things out at home to give me time to feed Jaycie."

Jaycie is now a thriving one year old and both mother and daughter continue to enjoy the closeness and bonding of breastfeeding.

Terri told us about the benefits of breastfeeding, "It makes you close to your baby but I do tell people that you need quite a bit of help because you spend a lot of time feeding."

Terri's first child Harley, now seven years old, was three months premature and spent his early weeks in the special care baby unit, so Terri didn't have the same opportunity for breastfeeding him.

The Bolsover Castle event launched a whole range of events across Derbyshire for mums and families, organised by community health staff, to promote breastfeeding awareness week across Derbyshire
