Joe Walker (left) was awarded the Club's 'Athlete of the Day' for his winning treble (all Grade 1), while Emma Schaanning took the female honours for her Grade 1 hurdles performance, when the club made the long trip to Preston for the first match of the McCain's UK Young Athletes' League new season.
Despite many outstanding individual efforts, including a double from Katie Lindley, Chesterfield AC could only finish 5th of 6 in the competition against the bigger city-based clubs.

Joe Walker's performances this season in the 100m, 200m and shot put already place him 2nd, 4th and 2nd respectively in the current UK rankings.
Joe is a Blackwell & District Young Striders athlete, coached there by Rob Platts, who also competes for Chesterfield AC by an agreed arrangement.
The Young Athletes League continues this Sunday at the Mount Stadium, Spinkill, when City of Sheffield are the host team, and athletes and supporters are asked to make their own way to the venue. Athletes should also confirm availability to their Team Manager as soon as possible.
Outstanding U11 Girl newcomer, Nazhrah Simpson, also exploded onto the athletics scene for her first ever track races in the Young Athletes' Medal Meeting at Trafford recently, winning the 75m and 150m with performances which shot her straight to 6th place for each distance in the current UK rankings.
The Club's Seniors finished 3rd in their first match in Div. 3EC of the Northern Track & Field League when hosting at Derby Moorways. Despite some excellent individual performances, a shortage of female athletes held the club back overall.
