Manager Billy Fox (below) lamented his jaded side as they got out of jail against a lively Brighouse team.
Staveley, who had just won four on the bounce have battled against some top sides in recent weeks, and after three tough away trips, the efforts of the players were evident in a lacklustre display.
A frustrated Fox said "We looked jaded. We've had a long trip to Liverpool and Scarborough midweek, Brighouse we're energetic, we hardly had a shot and the players put a lot of effort into the previous games, but tonight was different and we're fortunate for a point".
Fox made two changes to the side which defeated Ashville in the FA Vase at the weekend, Aymen Tahar came back into the side following illness and skipper Tom Jones also played.
Staveley, looking for a fifth win on the bounce, started on the back foot. Brighouse's energetic forwards fashioned up the first chance on 7 minutes when good work between Shane Hamilton and Tom Mathews saw Mathews side foot wide when well placed to score.
The pattern of the first half was to continue in this fashion as Brighouse were running rings around the Staveley defence. Mathews and Hamilton both had efforts that were either wide or shot straight at Ian Deakin in goal for the Welfare.
Anthony Haigh went into the book for Brighouse when squaring up to Richard Patterson and Town skipper Nicholas Jagger also saw yellow, when a late challenge on Ryan Damms saw the referee blow his whistle.
Mathews and Hamilton again failed to hit the target when inside the area and Staveley were defensively all at sea towards the break.
Staveley again were guilty of sloppy possession at the back when captain Tom Jones had a lapse in concentration as Mathews again fired wide from inside the box.
Half time: 0-0
Staveley started the second half in more determined fashion when Damms shot straight at Ineson, however the second half turned into the first very quickly as Danny Gibson fired over and Deakin again had to be smart to save from Hamilton.
Deakin was injured and received treatment at this point. On 68 minutes the game seemed to change when Jagger again fouled Damms and received a second yellow and the inevitable red card.
Deakin again though had to be smart to save from Mathews as Brighouse piled forward, this however was leaving gaps at the back. A cross by Tahar from the left hand side, saw Damms' header go inches wide. Tahar again crossed this time from the right, however Fox's header was superbly tipped over Ineson.
Anthony Haigh saw his shot saved by Deakin, on 83, whilst Mathews again failed to hit the target when he shot over. Jordan Eagers was booked late on for diving as Staveley and Brighouse settled for a point.
Fox concluded "Brighouse looked lively from box to box, they have pacy lads, but we didn't do enough, a draw was a point gained as we could have lost this quite easily. We have the best defence in the league and they needed to be at their best tonight. We tried to change it, even when they went to ten men, they were confident and they stopped us.
"Aymen Tahar wasn't fully fit, he's just come back from illness at the weekend and that's why I took him off, he wasn't happy but bad luck, and Ian Deakin will be struggling for Saturday, however we'll see how his physio goes, and we hope to patch him up."
Fox added about the up and coming match at the weekend with league leaders Bridlington, "It's tight at the top, Tadcaster and Bridlington have been the best sides I've seen this season, and we're all looking forward to Saturday against Brid. We always go to win matches, and it will be a great game to watch."
Staveley have added Danny Frost to their squad list, he has signed from Winterton Rangers and has seven goals already this season, however, he has picked up a knock and is likely to be out for a few weeks yet.
