New Face For Reds Ahead Of A Busy Weekend

Friday 26th August 2011

Alfreton Town have the first of a massive August Bank Holiday double-header when they welcome second-placed Wrexham to the Impact Arena on Saturday.

Alfreton Town Squad 2011-2012
Alfreton Town FC Squad 2011/12 - (Left to right, back row) Paul Madin (physiotherapist), Levi Mackin, Anthony Wilson, Matt Wilson, Dan Lowson, Ross Turner, Adie Hawes, Greg Young, Leigh Franks, Nathan Arnold, Nicky Law (manager), Russ O'Neill (assistant manager). (left to right, Front row) Jamie Mullan, Jordan Hall, Jake Moult, Theo Streete, Anton Brown, Paul Clayton, Josh Law, Connor Franklin, Nathan Jarman, Chris Senior.

Reds Manager Nicky Law will be looking for his side to build on the point gained in the 1-1 draw at Darlington in midweek but he will be without long-term injury victims Anthony Wilson and Nathan Arnold.

There are no other injury concerns and no suspensions and Law will choose from a squad of 17.

Managed by former Derby County and Liverpool striker, Dean Saunders, Wrexham arrive unbeaten in their opening four games during which time they have conceded just two goals.

The visitors opened the season with a 1-1 home draw against Cambridge United but they come into Saturday's game on the back of a three-match winning run.

They have achieved victories in both of their away games so far, 2-0 at Bath City and 2-1 at Lincoln City in front of the TV cameras last Friday.

Their latest game on Tuesday evening saw a 3-0 home win in front of 3,353 over a previously unbeaten Tamworth side.

With over 400 Wrexham fans expected to make the journey from North Wales, there should be a terrific atmosphere.

Kick-off at the Impact Arena is 3pm.

On August Bank Holiday monday, Alfreton travel to take on third-placed York City who are managed by former Reds bosses Gary Mills and Darron Gee.

And Alfreton have also announced a new face at The Impact Arena today with the news that manager Nicky Law has signed striker James Ellison on an initial one month's loan from npower League Two side Burton Albion.

Ellison, 19, is a product of Liverpool FC's Academy having joined the Merseysiders as an eight-year-old in 2000. He signed his first professional contract at the age of 17 at the end of his first year with the Reds' Academy but unfortunately injury kept him out of the FA Youth Cup Final in 2008.

He joined the Brewers on a two-year deal in the summer of 2010 after negotiating his release from Anfield by mutual consent due to fierce competition for places.

James had loan spells at both Stafford Rangers and Hednesford Town during the 2010/11 season.

He made three appearances in the Brewers' first team as a substitute last season and netted both goals for Albion's reserve side on Wednesday in a 4-2 home defeat by Nottingham Forest.

He has been described as a good finisher with an excellent eye for goal.

Ellison will wear squad number 22 at Alfreton and he will go straight into the squad for Saturday's Blue Square Bet Premier Division home game with high-flying Wrexham (3pm).
