Alfreton Town manager Nicky Law has made several transfer deadline day additions to his squad.

Steve Brogan signs for Alfreton Town FC late on deadline day

The Reds boss has brought former Huddersfield Town, Oldham Athletic and Morecambe midfield player Andy Holdsworth, to the Impact Arena along with ex Rotherham United midfielder Steve Brogan (pictured above) and defender Nikolaus Kudiersky.

Law explained his delight at landing Holdsworth, 27. "He is a versatile player at the right age with loads of experience. He can also play at right back and he has an air of composure about him.

"You need different types of players at this level. He is someone we are going to be looking to to keep the ball and pass it. He was keen to come here which was another big factor.

Holdsworth is a product of Huddersfield's successful Academy set-up and is the second signing in five days following former Liverpool Academy striker James Ellison who joined the Reds on a month-long loan from Burton Albion last Friday.

He made his debut in the 4-1 home defeat by league leaders Wrexham last Saturday and came off the bench again on Monday at York. Ellison was been given squad number 22 with Holdsworth taking over number 23.

Law was also delighted with his side's historic first win at Blue Square Premier Division level after a 1-0 success at York City on August Bank Holiday Monday.

"I am delighted for the players because it is like getting a monkey off our back. It was a great result and will give the lads belief that they can compete at this level."

This Saturday, Alfreton travel to joint league leaders Gateshead and Law says his side are in for another very tough game.

"Ian Bogie has done a great job at Gateshead. He has brought them out of the level we have come from and built them up to be a force to be reckoned with at this level.

"They are another club who have invested in their squad and improved it no end. Jon Shaw is getting the goals, but they are not a one-man team, there are another ten doing the work for him as well. It will be another very tough game because Gateshead have made their home ground a fortress."

Law is likely to be without son Josh for the trip to the North East. He has missed the last two games having picked up a groin strain during the pre-match warm-up for the Wrexham home game last Saturday. He is hoping to be back in contention for the home game against Braintree Town on Saturday, September 10th. Kick-off at the International Stadium is 3pm.

And news late last night that the Reds made more signings just before the deadline window closed, adding ex Rotherham United midfield player Steve Brogan and promising central defender Nikolaus Kudiersky.

Highly rated Brogan, 23, is a former Rotherham United Academy product. He progressed to the Millers' first team, gaining a two-year deal in April 2007. His consistent displays brought several Premier League scouts to watch him. After another terrific season in 2007/08, he sustained a horrendous double fracture of his leg which put him out of the game for 14 months.

He returned to Rotherham's first team at the end of the 2008/09 campaign after which he went out on loan to Stalybridge Celtic in January 2011 where he scored on his debut in a 5-3 defeat against Alfreton Town!

Brogan has been given the squad number 25 shirt.

Reds manager Nicky Law stressed that 6'1" central defender Kudiersky, 20, is "one for the future".

The former Burnley reserve team player has signed for the Reds on dual registration forms.

He will train with the Reds but will also continue to play with parent club New Mills FC in the Evo-Stik League First Division South with the blessing of both clubs.

Nikolaus has been given the squad number 24 shirt.
