REPORTS FOR SATURDAY JUNE 11th 2011
Division One Parkhead kept their lead at the top of the table with a home win over Hollinsend Meths. The visitors struggled to an all ou total of 114. Hill scoring a useful 43. Pick of the home side's bowlers was P.Clark with 5-43. Parkhead went on to complete a 6 wicket victory replying with 118-4. Millhouses Works are in fine form. They kept up their title challenge with an easy 8 wicket win at the picturesque Apperknowle ground. The visitors caught on a drying wicket were dismissed for 132 in the penultimate over. Brad Sampson bowling unchanged had the excellent figure of 6-54. For Apperknowle, Neil Hibbert hit a quick 42. Iain Mallett continued his fine form with an unbeaten 53 in Works reply of 133-2. Holmesfield are making a challenge for the top places. They struggled to 143 all out at home to Sheffield Centralians. Parkin 4-31 and Goodson 4-41 bowling well for the visitors. Centralians were then sent back for 84, Wainwright hitting 41 and Crapper claiming a fine 5-9 for the home side. Sheffield University Staff, stay in fourth place after a fine at Hathersage. The home side batting first made 177-9, with V.Kale again amongst the runs scoring a very good 67. Staff reached their target at 190-7, Kashikar top scoring with an unbeaten 46. S.White fell one run short of his century for De La Salle (193-7), in their win at bottom of the table Hundall. The home side had earlier posted a useful 189-9 (C.Pursehouse 48, N. Walmsley 4-42)
Division Two Match of the day in this section was between unbeaten league leaders Stocksbridge and fellow promotion seekers Civil Service. The home side batting first were all out for 180 (Rob Codd 51, Andy Higgins 4-65, Robe Horne 4-58). Jim Tomlinson then produced a good spell of 5-22 as Civil Service were sent back for 102 (Gary Bagshaw 42) to extend their lead at the top of the table. Second in the table Dronfield Woodhouse tumbled out for 89 by an in form Calver side at the Rec. (A Hodgson 4-30). Tom Hilton is having a fine season, making another significant contribution of 55 as the visitors clawed their way to a win at 93-6. Ashford had a good home win over Parkhead 2nd. Batting first they made 167 all out (John Carrington 41, Wilkinson 6-48), then bowling out Parkhead for 83 with J.Muir taking 4-7. Ridgeway returned to winning ways in a close victory over struggling Grindleford. Ridgeway batting first made 160 all out (Woodhead 42, Tiffin 4-42). They then had to thank the retun of Steve Woolley to the attack as he took 5-54 as the home side fell just five runs short as they were dismissed for 155. Hallam 3rd had an easy home win over Sheffield Transport. They dismissed the visitors for 82 (Heyes 4-5) then reached their target for the loss of just four wickets. Weston Park have hit winning form. They made a total of 161-9, then bowling out their opponents Millhouses Works for 109.
Division Three Chris Cowley hit a splendid 125 for leaders Baslow as they amassed a useful total of 230-5, with D.Cartwright also contributing an unbeaten 44. They then restricted second in the table Sheffield Collegiate 4th to 188 -7 (G.Layer 55 no, Liver 48). Bakewell 180-8 (I.Tann 58) were defeated at home by Totley Sports 185-5 (A.Birks 85, R.Reed 4-75). Richmond 191-9 (M.Rose 58, S.Britton 54, A.Shah 4-56) had a convincing win over TRS 70 (R.Murray 5-21). This was Richmond's second win of the season. Sheffield University Staff 2nd 176-6 enhanced their promotion prosepects at home to winless Shardlows who fell 36 runs shorts at 140-7. Whittington Wanderers 171-7 (P.Fletcher 78) enjoyed their second win of the season over Stocksbridge 2nd were all out for 126 (E.Price 46,P.Whiteley 4-23)
Division Four Totley Sports 2nd were the highest scorers of the day plundering the Apperkowle 2nd bowling for 306-9. Apperknowle were then sent back for 96, to set up a huge win, that enabled Totley to top the table. Previous league leaders Chesterfield Barbarians 2nd were well beaten at Walkley who batting first made an excellent score of 228 all out, (R.Wing 68, G.Bramwell 5-81). The table toppers could only muster 114 in reply with J.Hudson claiming 4-18 for the Sheffield side. De la Salle OB 2nd 117-6 (Dixon 40) enjoyed a six wicket win at home over Coal Aston 3rd 114-9. Sheffield Centralians 2nd batting second made 153 all out (P.Sutton 43no). This was in reply to Hathersage 2nd who had earlier made 161-9 (A.Kerner 64), thus ensuring a narrow 8 run win. Sheffield Zingari were involved in an exciting tied game with Youlgreave Lodge. Both sides were all out for 125. Hollinsend 2nd sent back Hundall 2nd for 98, and then moved on to a 7 wicket victory with 101-3.
Division Five Jahinder was a century maker clubbing a superb 131 in Sheffield Medics impressive 266-5 (Bahal 43). The home side, Stocksbridge 3rd, were only able to make 162-9 in reply with Lyons their top scorer on 45. This win took Medics to the top of the table. Ridgeway 2nd 134 were narrowly beaten at home by Baslow 2nd 137-8 Sheffield Civil Service 2nd 129, had a good home win over bottom of the table Whittington Wanderers 2nd 95.
