Derbyshire businesses invited to put themselves forward for 2 new awardsOrganisers are currently looking for local businesses and organisations which are committed to improving the health and wellbeing of their employees by encouraging staff to be more active, or which have sponsored a sporting project which has resulted in a positive outcome.

The Active Workplace Award will be presented to an organisation which promote active lifestyles, and which has seen positive benefits for its employees and the business thanks to its initiatives.

The Sport Sponsorship Award will be presented to an organisation which has contributed to an amateur or community sports project through financial support and other support, resulting in positive outcomes for the project and participants. There are two categories for the award - sponsorship of under £1,000 and over £1,000.

Full details of the Active Workplace Award and Sport Sponsorship Award and nomination forms can be found at www.derbyshiresport.co.uk/sportsawards The deadline for nominations is September 30th.

Councillor Carol Hart, Chair of Derbyshire Sport, said: "We know that many businesses and organisations in Derbyshire are working hard to support sport in the county and encourage their staff to become more physically active too, and we really want to champion this work which is why these new categories have been introduced.

"The great work that is taking place in Derbyshire deserves to be recognised and rewarded. By showcasing this work we also hope to inspire other organisations to get involved."

Winners will be announced at the Derbyshire Sports Awards, sponsored by the University of Derby, which will be held in Derby on Friday, November 11th.

Awards will also be presented at the event in nine other categories including Sportsperson of the Year, Junior Sportsman, Junior Sportswoman, Club of the Year and Coach of the Year.
