Greg Scott-Briggs is happy to be written off before he meets a knock-out king in Derby next month. Scott-Briggs
(left) has been matched with Wayne Evans on an EBF-sanctioned show at the Assembly Rooms, Derby on Sunday, February 17th - and the Chesterfield veteran knows he's tipped to lose their cruiserweight clash.

Evans impressed when he raced to a one-round win on the last show in Derby - but Scott-Briggs reckons he will stop the Doncaster power puncher's climb up the EBF ratings, "I'm told he's a fast starter, a big puncher, but if they think I'm old and I'm going to be a punch bag, they are in for a shock!" he said.

"It's OK if he thinks he's going to knock me out, I will thrive on that. Knowing what people are saying will drive me on just like it always has. I've been criticised and knocked down before and I always pick myself up. I want to prove I still have it in me. I've been training hard in the gym and I know what I have to do."

Scott-Briggs has been training at Darryl Grafton's newly-opened gym and hopes he can still bring a belt back to Chesterfield.

He was hoping for a rematch with Steve Ward after dropping a controversial decision when they clashed for the EBF Midlands Area cruiserweight title but Ward has retired and Scott-Briggs has been inactive, "I'm just glad to be getting back in the ring," he said, "and all the experts will be sitting there with their mouths open after my next fight."

Scott-Briggs is fighting for a good cause in Derby. He plans to donate his purse to Amanda Carty, who is currently undergoing cancer treatment in America. Greg said, "Amanda is my best friend's wife and is like family to me. I grew up with her husband, Cassius and I have to help her if I can."

The show in Derby is topped by a heavyweight rematch. Local ticket-seller Nathan Ward aims to reclaim the EBF English heavyweight title by avenging last year's shock loss to Mark Walker.

Tickets for the show are available by calling 07758 404 858.
