REPORTS FOR SATURDAY AUGUST 13th 2011
Division One
The new league leaders Holmesfield piled up yet another large score at their Cordwell Valley ground. This week hitting 275-4 from their 46 overs. Main contributers were N.Pearson 54, run machine Jimmy Pearson 53, T.Brown 48, M.Rodgers 48. They then bowled out visitors Hundall for 112 to keep their place at the top of the table.
Former leaders, Millhouses Works, returned to winning ways with an eight wicket win at home to Hathersage. Batting first the visitors were all out for 133. Tom Harris hit a fine unbeaten 64, Brad Sampson taking 4-55. Works replied with 134-2 (Nick Attrill 40 no)
Third placed Parkhead kept up their title challenges, with an easy win at bottom club, Apperknowle. The home side were bowled out for 90, Parkhead replying with 93-3 (I.Davis 37 no). Will Hellewell was again amongst the wickets for the visitors, claiming 5-34.
Sheffield University staff remain in fourth place. They bowled out Hollinsend Meths for 115 and replied with 118-7 (J.Hibbert 38)
Sheffield Centralians had a vital win at De La Salle OB. Batting first, Centralians totalled 133-7 from their allotted overs. The home side made a good reply falling twelve runs short as they were all out for 121. Top scorer for De La Salle was Latimer with 49, whilst for the visitors there was a an excellent spell of 7-42 from Shah.
Division Two
Unbeaten Stocksbridge were made to fight for their win at Hallam 3rd. They bowled the home side out for 66, with the inform Colin Vickers claiming 5-9, but lost seven wickets in achieving their target at 70-7 (Heyes 4-24). This win ensured Stocksbridge are the league winners with three matches still to play.
Second placed Calver suffered their second defeat in a row, after being bowled out for just 78 (Phil Clark 5-30), by Parkhead 2nd, who moved onto a seven wicket victory at 79-3 (D. McCaig 30 no).
Calver's second place is now taken by Sheffield Civil Service. This is mainly due to J.Clarke who had a fine match. He took 5-58, as visitors Ridgeway were sent back for 128 (Shaun Beck 45). This was ten runs short of the home side's 138 were he top scored with an unbeaten 41.
Dronfield Woodhouse totalled 180-8 (David Drew 50, Peter Holmes 4-66), and then bowled out home side Millhouses Works 2nd for 160 (Z.Shikh 42, Kevin Lewis 5-57)
There was a close game at Ashford who did well to dismiss the visitors, Grindleford for the modest total of 107. This proved to be enough as the home side were sent back for 101 (Tiffin 4-42), giving Grindleford a six run win.
Weston Park hit a useful 235-7 at home to Sheffield Transport. Top scorers were Aishwar Dhawan 67 and Imtiaz 48. Imtiaz completed a good all round performance taking 4-29 as Transport were bowled out for 79.
Division Three
The leaders, Baslow had a very quick victory at home to lowly Richmond. The rushed out the visitors for just 38 (Josh Keer 4-7) and then made 41-0 in reply to set up a ten wicket win.
Bakewell, keep in the promotion hunt. They restricted Sheffield University Staff 2nd to 115-8 and then replied with 116-5.
There was an excellent second win of the season for Shardlows, who thanks to a wonderful spell of 8-32 from Ian Gillott, sent back visitors TRS for 92. The home side replied with 94-5, to move them off the bottom of the table.
Stocksbridge 2nd totalled a useful 196 all out (Liam Grayson 65) at home to Totley Sports who in an exciting game replied with 200-8, to set up a two wicket win. Top scores for Totley were N.Birks 50 and A.Birks 42.
Sheffield Collegiate 202-4 (Ben Rooke 78 no, Rob Priestley 47), had a six wicket win over Millhouses Works 3rd who made 201-9.(Seal 4-36)
Division Four
Top match in this section was first placed Hollinsend Meths 2nd against Totley Sports 2nd who were lying just behind them in the table. Totley batting first made 185 all out. Leading scorer was N.Abdul with 62, whilst Andy Oscroft took 4-40, for the visitors. Totley then dismissed their opponents for 127 (N.Khan 5-26), to send them to the top of the table.
Best performance of the day came from Youlgreave Lodge's J. McMahon who hit a wonderful 119 out of his side's 187 all out. He then took five catches as opponents Chesterfield Barbarians 2nd were sent back for 142 (O.Noughton 76).
Coal Aston 3rd 174-3 (Woolley 55no, Cookson 50no) had a seven wicket win at Hundall 2nd who earlier made 172-7 (Wigfield 46).
Apperknowle 2nd posted an all out score of 147. This was too much for Hathersage 2nd who were then sent back for just 48.
Walkley were dismissed for 93 (E.Berlin 6-27) by Sheffield Centralians 2nd who replied with 94-7 (B.Birch 4-32).
Sheffield Zingari kept in the promotion hunt thanks to a home win over De La Salle OB 2nd. Batting first they made 173-8 (A.Ruparella 89no, Paul Lally 4-33) and then bowled out their opponents for 139 (Tom Barney 55, S.Park 4-64)
Division Five
Stocksbridge Cricket Club are having an excellent season. Their 3rd team kept at the top of the table, bowling out Sheffield Collegiate 5th for 87 (Murfin 6-37). They replied with 88-2 (Howe 44no).
There was a high scoring game at third placed Sheffield Medics. Visitors, Sheffield Collegiate, batting first made an impressive 251-6. Nick Goodman hit a superb 127, P.Hemstock 42. This was not enough as Medics replied with 253-5 (P.Rao 75, V.Gopal 42, S.Akhria 40)
Woodhouse kept up their promotion challenges, bowling out Chesterfield Barbarians for 89 (C.Smith 7-23). They replied with 93-3 (M.Jenkinson 43).
Whittington Wanderers 2nd came within one run of recording their first win of the season. They bowled out Hallam 4th for 169 (C.Burch 47) and then fell one run short being all out for 168 (Dave Vickery 78, Jonathon Moggs 5-60).
